Robert plant opening to Immigrant Song..........but......my vote goes to Merry Clayton, back-up singer for the Stones, Gimme Shelter!
 
Merry Clayton is a great singer, but I can't say that Gimme Shelter has that throat-ripping, nothing more to say, rock screech aspect to it. Not sure Jagger fits that category either. Maybe "Rip This Joint" from Exile, but I don't know that I would put that as the greatest rock yell of all time. Personally, I think I still gotta go with my first one- Lennon on I Want You (She's So Heavy) but now I am curious to hear some of these other ones!

I agree. Also Cornell on "Birth Ritual" from the Singles soundtrack is killer!!!!!!!!!!
