What's the most FUN amp to play?

Lot of opinions out there on what the most overrated amps are. Turning this around, what is the most FUN amp you've ever played? An amp that you lose track of time playing because the feeling, response & feedback as a player was so amazing?

For gain, my #1 was a Mark IIC+ SR. The Sixties are super pissed off, and the no-graphic amps have an addictive feel.

For cleans, my #1 is a Mesa California Tweed. Extremely addicting feedback & touch sensitivity.

Honorable mentions are a Mark IIC+ DR for lead tones, A Dual Rec Tremoverb for clean tones, and a Dual Rec rev C for just everything.

Of course I've sold them all :ROFLMAO:

For high gain I'd say Rev 1/Original Uberschall & Mark IIC+ HRG (I actually had more fun playing it over the DR I had and SR I tried). My Prototype Purpleface VH4 & CCV would be honorable mentions. Still haven't tried a Larry, MLC Silenoz or Rev C, so can't comment on those

For cleans: my 1963 Vox AC30 Top Boost & 1964 Fender Vibroverb. Head & shoulders above others

Medium Gain Amps: 1963 Vox AC30 Top Boost, 1980 Jim Kelley, '50's Fender Tweed Champ. My Alessandro's would be honorable mentions. The '70's Dumble I tried years ago would honestly be in a totally different league than all this stuff, but not an option for me

The best gear in all categories tends to have next level feel such as a real klon (all the klones I've had didn't have an ounce of it), real '60's alnico blues, 20w GB's, JBL's, Crescendo's, the great vintage pickups & guitars, etc.

Feel like the fun factor often gets overlooked. An amp thats really fun to play doesn’t necessarily sound the best. The JMP1 preamp immediately comes to mind when I think of fun

For me my 71 superlead is king. It's a blast to play cranked at 10 ( no attenuator ) with some hearing protection. It just screams with anger and aggression and pulses my chest with every palm mute.

The rush I get when I can fire up the 72 SuperTremolo is unmatched. Still gives me that huge smile that makes speeding up my impending deafness worth it. Lol
For cleans I really love the tone my 76 Twin gives...of course, doesn't hurt that it has stock unmolested D120Fs. Just picked up a Rev C Dual from Gjo(thanks brotha!!) and damn if it doesn't sound like an amazing modded Marshall/Mesa hybrid. Unreal. No idea why they stopped making these. My Naylor and 4211 chassis also have great feel and push to go along with nice tone.
At this point, I have no GAS for anything other than a pie in the sky real Jose A. Maybe someday.

Randall rg100es with a metal zone as a boost and thru two V30 loaded (recto) 4x12's, I'm serious. I play so well through those amps, and they got such an addictive palm muted tone. It's very percussive and brutal yet warm sounding. The metal Zone just kicks it into serious tight, chunk territory... no gain from the pedal, just as a boost. I really need to get another one of those amps, I miss playing thru them.

Silenoz is very interesting

VHT Deliverance for me, in that it gives me exactly what I need to start playing with very little additional work involved in any setting, and it sounds gnarly as they come when loud.

Boogie Mk III would be a close second, but getting it dialed in can be a process if you've never owned one.

Mark III rules . And ya if you don’t know the amp at first it’s probably the hardest amp to dial in . But damn good when you do

Of the amps I have right now, probably the 2204 is the most fun to just plug into and play. It’s just got that roar and punch and there’s not much to fuss with. Different pedals up front can take it to different territories. I have a Dirty Tree making the long voyage from kiwiland at this very moment for just that purpose.

A close runner up might be my blackface deluxe reverb RI surprisingly. I’ve been up way too late some nights because I decided I’d get a little Telecaster time in before bed. 30 minutes I tell myself. Then 3 hours later after playing and singing a bunch of Chris Isaak and Sturgill Simpson and such I realize I am going to hate myself in the morning.
