When stacking amp heads on a 4x12...?

My question was.. Has anybody seen wear from the rubber feet?? I thought thats what they were there for.

What do people use to keep from getting marks on the cardboard? ;)

Hey, it's your gear; treat it how you like.

if you use cardboard you are losing about 21.85% of the crystal lattice in your upper mids and highs.

for the best tone use an old yoga mat but make sure a top builder puts their logo on it first for the forum cred.

With set-changeover times always cramped....I can't imagine dealing with cardboard (or anything not attached) for something so trivial.

I don't worry about it. I sold my new cab, and got two secondhand cabs. The tolex on one of them is torn all over. But it sounds great so that's what matters to me.

It's all fun and games until someone low balls you because of some marks on the cab.

That would be someone I'd rather not deal with.If you want something unblemmed, umscratched, or whatever, put on your big boy pants ,save up and buy new on the box. If I'm buying something USED a little bit of wear and tear doesn't bother me. A littl bit of "character" tells me that that guitar was loved and played, those amps and cabs with grunge and funky odors were gigged because they sounded good and were reliable. I can appreciate gear with history.

Woah, looks like I just stumbled upon TGP by accident...

Great that you feel this way. I personally don't really care about the condition of tolex when I'm buying something like a 4x12 because it's inevitable that it's going to get chewed up a bit moving it in and out of cars, vans, stairs, whatever.

But that doesn't change the fact that typical resale value is going to be higher if it doesn't have those marks. And I'm sure you're at least heard of all the knuckleheads that try to squeeze partial refunds out of sellers after receiving an item. "You said it was it great shape, but your pics didn't show these tiny marks on top of the cab. I want a partial refund or I'll file a PayPal dispute."

I don't understand so many people making fun of a guy thinking about preventing scuff marks and whatever else.

It's not like people are crucifying him for protecting his cabs. It's just a little good natured ribbing because it's kindofa dumb dumb question. There's no one right way to do what he's asking. You can fold up a towel or cut up a mouse pad or stack coasters or cardboard or any of a thousand different things. It's not a big deal.

After reading the opening post, I had to check to make sure I was on RT and not TGP.

Hey ,
We still use French"s mustard ....

I'm too cheap to even buy French's, go with the store brand!

i absolutely understand wanting to preserve your gear. i didnt care so much when i was younger and gigging, but now that im older and not gigging, i'd like to keep my gear aesthetically pleasing too.

carpet or carpet padding would work well. or two pieces of carpet, backing/backing with the soft side out on both sides.
