Oddly I break the D string most often on one particular guitar. Maybe it’s a burr in the D string saddle?
Dino Cazares used 11-50 for B standard on DemanufactureI’m left handed but play right handed. I’ve always had a heavy left hand. I used to play 9-42 in Eb when I first started out and that was when I broke strings all of the time. I jumped up in gauges ages ago to help prevent it too and never went back.
The 12-60 isn’t so bad. The hardest part to get used to is the 24 gauge solid core G string (I hate wound G’s)
IME wound strings are always E and D breaks. E because it takes the full force of a downstroke and D because it's the thinnest wound string.Oddly I break the D string most often on one particular guitar. Maybe it’s a burr in the D string saddle?
maybe its how my guitar is set up, idk. its a 24.75" scale length. they feel to have around the same tension as a set of 10-46's tuned standard.I also use the 12-56 set and if I can’t get the pack with the solid core G string I’ve been known to swap out the wound G for a 22 as well.
Also how in the world do you do 12-60 tuned to B? I’d have to go to 13’s. 12’s in C# feel just right but start to feel loose to me in C/drop B.
