Dear all,

Thanks for your feedback. I have checked the MK4.23 on the web (videos) and considering that at the moment. What is making me doubt is:
- I could not find any video's where the MK4.23 is used in a setting like Einstein Ch1mod2, that is
with a slightly overdriven channel puched more into overdrive in rhythm playing
- The MK4.23 has no EQ possibilities (like e.g. the RC booster): I want to use it in combination with Ch1Mod2 with the same Einstein EQ Settings as for CH1Mod1 (without MK4.23), to have a midi controlled switch between clean and overdrive without touching the bass/treble/mid ... and in that sense an EQ on the boost pedal can help to compensate for the Einstein EQ settings that are "ideal" for the clean and maybe not ideal for the CH1MOD2-boost combination ... I hope this is clear.

It's a hard thing to explain, it takes all the goodness of an amp that's already inherent to an amp, and simply ramps it up with immense clarity, and it can really push the amp into a sweet, natural overdrive. I've used a lot of OD specific pedals, and they're all just that, dirt stomps. But the Mk.4:23 9V or the 48V is a beast - it really forces the front end of the amp to do things no other pedal that I've owned has been able to do before. It's 100% transparent. It's not EQ based because the EQ on your amp remains 'as is', it just adds this mondo horsepower to your front end.

I've used it in a lot of applications, but less on my gainier channels, and more on my semi-clean to crunchy channels. It's takes a semi-clean and turns it into this rich, vibrant, colorful blossom of overtones and drive... On the crunchier channels, it just blows it up - turns it into that KERRRRAAAANG sound of the classics.

There's nothing like it in my humblest of opines. Maybe ask Mailman what he thinks of his...there are a few cats that have them on these forums. Do a search. I think Alex from CAL also has a user profile here. They're super helpful if you have any questions.

Peace,
V.

I have a modded Einstein so I can switch thru all 3 modes in channel one and then channel 2 for solo/super high gain. I run a Suhr Isoboost which is just a clean boost and it works great, best thing I've tried. I also run a 5751 in V1 which lowers the gain a little too. I also have and tried a OCD and while great on the clean it takes some clarity and bottom out of the sound which I don't like. The Isobost is just excellent in this regard as it adds only gain, no coloration.

After reading Ventura's praises of the the Mk.4:23, I ordered one earlier this week. It just arrived today.

I can't wait to take it for its first test-drive tonight.

me too I ordered one ... it is on its way to Belgium at this moment ... hope to have it tomorrow ...
