Hi guys, if everything goes well, ill be able to place an order for a herbert sometime this week. Im currently using a VHT sigx paired with a vertical recto 2x12cab with v30s. its decent, but dosent give me the huge sound i am looking for.

im actually looking for a tone like in this vid and figured if im getting the head, i might as well get a cab to go with it as well. Ive heard good things about bogner cabs, diezels, port city and Mills acoustics but cant seem to make up my mind. Suggestions (together with what speakers should be inside) will be much appreciated

Hi,

I think the best cab (imo) whould be a diezel 4x12 fl with G12k100

I'm in the exact same situation except have framus and orange cabs also on the list. Maybe check those out too. ;)

I strongly recommend the new Diezel rearloaded 4x12 with hempcone speakers. The FL 4x12 with G12K-100s is too balanced for the Herbert IMO.

Of course it depends on your style and the sound you are going for.

wow 3 different posts and i get 3 different suggestions! well availability wise, the FL v30s and FL G12s should be a little easier to obtain as i can get them in the same shipment (hopefully) as my herbert. So if its a toss up between these 2 cabs, which would you guys prefer for a heavy crushing sound? I dont want the amp to sound too middy which is why im a little hesitant over the FL v30s? The upside about getting either the MILLS or Port city cabs is i can customize the speakers i want before ordering, but it will cost more and take a little longer

Listen to this man... he knows what he's talking about ;).

I've been using a Diezel FL V30 4X12 for the last 6 years with my Herbert and it sounds great.

depends on the tone you are going for. i own all the Diezel cabs ( well 2 FL & 1 RL) and each one is quite different tonewise. Love the RL Hempcone with the Herbert...but also like the FL V30 cab too. G12K100 cab is a tad neutral for the Herbie..but awesome with the VH4. what kind of tone/style are you going for?

basically i want a cab then can produce a huge thump-- im currently using a 2x12 vert recto cab with v30s and a VHT sig x and i cant seem to get the massive bottom end. basically the ideal tone would be a cross between jeff loomis (nevermore) and older in flames with some dream theater thrown in.

If you're looking for "huge thump", then you need a 4x12.
2x12s are great for cutting through a mix, but nothing moves air like a 4x12.

I don't know when you are placing your order but I will have my Mills cab on wednesday and I will report back then...

I'll trade you a Baloney and Cheese sandwich for it…I’ll even throw in a splash of Miracle Whip, too boot!

Pretty much always stick with the same brand cab as the head you have. The Herbert is going to sound the best with a Diezel cab, as with a different brand head, with that same brand cab.

Give me one instance where a certain brand head sounds better with a different brand cab(I'm talking quality gear, no junk). :jerkit:
