which dimarzio pickup is best for metal???

Evolution pickups are voiced for leads. Blaze is a 7-string Steve's Special.

Norton is an excellent lower output pickup. Great in every guitar I've ever installed.

I've had the Air Norton come in the neck pickup of both of my J Customs.....I removed those. Not was I was looking for. I see the Norton is the same with more output?
The Blaze sounds far better than the Steve's Special I had in one of my Ernie Ball JPs. As for the Evolution, it is a great all around pickup for my guitars and sounds great.

Oh well....we all have different ears and what we perceive as good. I guess that is what makes things fun with changing pickups. There really is no right or wrong answer if it is what you are looking for.

well i jsut bought a motor city solution off of laura.. so im going to try it out and see what happens..

I suggested an x2n because you asked about dimarzios, but the solution is a much better choice. Wade sprinkles a little magic in the windings. I've got a detroiter in my SG and its never leaving.

For Dimarzio, I liked the D-Act with the rails. Haven't tried a Crunch Lab yet but hear they're really nice. I also have an Evo in a LP copy and it works well for metal. It's pretty hot and brash, but in a dark guitar, it compliments nicely. In a bright axe I think it would be obnoxious and very fatiguing.
