Perhaps there is more than one of these out there then? A friend of mine has all of the Randall modules so I certainly wouldn't have been interested in either. I was searching for an MHG and was approached by someone here with an Egnater version of the Ultra - I wish private messages went back that far but yeah, really not that important.

I do have a prototype EG5 right now that I bought instead.

Prior owner maybe?

No matter...the EG5 rocks! The UXL sounds a little different but it's all high gain Egnater goodness :D

Maybe it was Marco. He posts here and he is the guy who bought my entire MOD50 setup, including the UXL.

I know the UXL wasn't his thing, so he sold it.

FWIW, I wanted that module (and will have another even if I have to have Bruce make me one) specifically for a certain type of death metal tone and to be able to get close to Panteraish type tone and id does what I wanted perfectly, but with more mopen mids and the Eggy MOJO

It may have been me, I did PM a guy back at the MTS forum about trading it for an SL but I ended up calling the Amp Lounge and traded it for a COD . So who ever has it, they got it from the Amp Lounge.

FWIW, At the time I was up in the air about what I wanted to trade it for, the COD or the EG5 (it wasn't even called EG5 yet; it was the X; a tightened up MHG). Frank said, "It was basiclly the same as the UXL". So, I got the COD instead. Frank was suprised I didn't like the UXL as he had played it the shop before it was sent. He said, "It screams man".

Of course after months of everybody here raving about how great the EG5 is I broke down and got one. The EG5 is pretty close to the UXL if not the same? I still really don't know; my tone memory my not be as sharp as I thought; I would have to see them side by side. I mean maybe one resistor value difference?

It's very possible Tony, that old MHG you had and sent to Bruce to modify, was in fact the first EG5. They were tweaking and testing that MHG and realized they found something... Oh yes, it had a few names, the H, the X, the UXL perhaps? It's possible.

The EG5 still isn't my thing but I'm keeping this one, I'll break it out when the mood hits me. Isn't it great that we can all find something that works for all of us with this amp? For me, the EG3/4 is my sound.

Hey JKD -

is that at 2x12 you have there? I need to get a closed back 2x12 so I can fit all my shit in my truck and was just wondering if that was a custom order in your pic or not.

Thanks.

It's an Egnater 2x12 and not custom as far as I know...not 100% sure of the history, I think this might be the prototype...was trying to track it down and it looks like the guy who sold it to me might have bought it from Jeff H. on another board.

It's 30"w x 14" d x 23 5/8" h
Baffle is permanently attached to the cab shell. Baffle grille frame is removeable.
This was a prototype I built for Frank..collaboration was mutual.
Cab is built from the highest grade of voidless Finnish baltic birch..cleats are poplar.

Hope this helps...
edit: added grille FRAME is removeable

It was definitely Marco, we were going to trade the SL for the Ultra. Sorry about the confusion.

I'll have to get pics of 'em side by side....there's a difference to my ears....but I have different tubes in and do tend to dial 'em slightly different. :D
