Who has V-30s and Greenbacks in the same cab?

I run most of my heads through my EVH 4x12. My main head is an EVH 100s and I'm happy with how it sounds through the EVH 4x12. But I was just watching a Youtube comparison of a 100s head through two different cabs, one with V-30s and the other with Greenbacks. I liked them both, but am wondering how they sound combined in the same 4x12. Please talk me out of this unnecessary expenditure.

I have an EVH cab with 2 v30s and 2 EVH mix.. I like it.. I don't have a 100s, just the regular 100 watt. I use it mostly with my BE100 and 6505+, but the EVH sounds heavy through it too. I used the Chinese ones.

I have an old trace Elliot cab with 2 v30's on the bottom and 2 25 watt greenbacks on top .
I love it !!!
It is my favorite mix that I have tried .

I've got a Bogner 4x12 with reissue Greenbacks on top and Chinese v30's on bottom. I like it a lot. The sensitivity difference seems to be offset with the greenies on top and the v30's on bottom I guess because the Greenbacks are closer to your ears. By contrast, I don't think I'd care for this mix in an X pattern. Also, I've run a Greenback cab and a v30 cab off the same head, and the v30 cab overpowered the Greenback cab.

I have an '02 Marshall Greenback cab and an '06 Marshall V30 cab (all UK made). I decided to swap 2 in both cabs so one is running Greenbacks on top and V30s on bottom, the other has them in an X pattern. Sounds great to me, but I'm a fan of both speakers.

I've got a Splawn 4x12 with Scumback M75s up top and Vintage 30s on the bottom. Sounds killer with my Friedman Small Box and also with my 5150 50 watt that is now sold. Nice tight low end . I thought the mids would be a little overbearing but they're pretty balanced with the highs

I just put in greenbacks in top and have governors in bottom of my 4x12 last weekend. I also play the 100s. Greenbacks are coming back out tomorrow. Haha. Weird cuz I love the greenbacks in my EVH 2x12 combo, just for the style I play with the band I like all governors more.

That being said, I have a pair of cv-75's being delivered Monday. Gonna x pattern them with governors for one last change. I've wanted to try them for some time. I'll report back Rick on my findings.

Also becoming a soldering master. Lmao

I have a Friedman cab with the greenbacks on top, v30's on bottom, playing an EVH 5153 Stealth. Sounds great!

I guess I should also ask if anyone has compared the stock EVH Celestions with the real Greenbacks. I've heard they're almost identical twins.

I replaced the dreadful t75 in my uberkab with greenbacks, so it's a v30/greenback x-pattern now.
Digging it

I've always likes the G12T-75s. I've played through several Marshall 4x12s at studios and even gigged with one because the other band had one and I wanted a full stack. I've run Soldanos and 5150s through them like them a lot. But I was at the Hollywood GC a while back when a guy was trying a JTM 45 through a Marshall 4x12 with Greenbacks and it was just other worldly awesome.

Yes I have. Both are great speakers. I prefer the Chinese Greenbacks over the EVH.

I prefer the regular reissue Greenbacks over most all GB type speakers except the Creambacks. I also own a Friedman 4x12 with the GB top V30 on bottom combo... best 4x12 cab for that big tight rock tone. I did temporarily have my Splawn 4x12 with GB's top and V30 bottom and it sounded great too, just not as good as the Friedman 4x12 to my ears.

How can cabs with the same speakers sound so different? Aren't all the good made out of baltic birch? Besides that and the speakers, what else is there?

People with more smarts than me can give there thoughts, but I know that even the placement of the center post and the material its made from with make a huge difference in the "timber" of how the cab resonates.
I have rapped my knuckles on several different cabs (like picking out a watermelon..lol) and can hear different tones.
They almost ring similar to a drum shell. (kinda)

Even seen the inside shell of DW drums? They have a musical note stamped on them .

Using a Mesa 4x12 with Lynchabacks on top V30's on the bottom.
And a Marshall 2x12 with V30/Lynchback

Works for me

How do you like those Lynchbacks ? I've heard some call them a cross beetween a V30 and a Greenback

If you are curious, First riff Evh 4x12, double tracked, second riff, 4x12 with 2 EVH and 2 V30s, third track EVH with EVH and V30s on left and EVH 4x12 on right. All double tracked, no FX, EQ, or anything, raw recording. Last bit of wankery with EVH wit 2 v30s. Used Sennheiser MK4 36" from center of the cab, pointing at the center of the cab on both recordings. Amp was EVH 5150III 100 watt.

I have tried most of the V-30 mixes. My fav hands down is all broken in V-30's and Heritage H-30 55 hz cones in an X pattern. Kills! Perfect blend.
