Why are some used Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo heads $1600 & other $3000. Which is mine?

I have a Dual Rectifier Solo head in excellent condition. I see them for sale from $1500-3300 & am trying to figure out why the difference.

Below is a picture the the original Mesa Boogie tag. Does this tell you how old it is & is that relevant to the value?

Any help in sorting this out would be greatly appreciated

Early Rev G. Small logo. Parallel fx loop. Serial in the 3500 range.
 
It all depends on the Revision and serial #. Pre 500 are usually more desired and will fetch a higher price. Plus, some people are just nuts with their asking prices of things. I had a 1992 Rev C. that came right from Boogie that I got new. I didnt think I would ever sell it but something came up and I put it up for a really high price and got it. It was in pristine shape and probably the best DR I have ever played. Miss that amp sometimes.

When the Rev F’s like mine or older ones (rev C etc) pop up, they will fetch 3k. The rev F’s are now just starting to pop into that 3k range… fluff just sold his rev F to mick thompson on reverb for 3200 or so… I wouldn’t be surprised if rev C’s and Pre 500 stuff is selling for 4K on there now.
 
So if I am reading the tag right , this is a Rev B? So Rev F & C are worth more than B?

Rev A, B were prototypes and never sold. So Rev C will be the first version, and will fetch 4-5K nowadays-serial will be below 250 give or take. Rev D a little less, serial up to low 500s. E lasted until 600 or so, pretty rare but probably less value than a D. F started around early 600s and lasted until 3000 give or take. I have a Rev F triple with a later 2900 serial. Earlier versions are brighter and tighter than the following versions. Your Rev G in today’s market is worth 1600-2000 imo.

To be sure of your revision, you’ll need to pop the chassis out and look for “R1G” or R1F printed on the board just below the blue filter caps in the chassis. Yours is probably a G but I think there are Fs with the parallel loop. Rare but out there.

It was at a time where people thought I was nuts for listing it at the price I did. The most expensive ones were at $1800 and mine was considerably more.. By todays prices is would still be high but not over the top.

It's funny. Some guy posted supposedly serial #1 Recto a few weeks ago from some German shop. Sounded like total shit. Probably user error..but a lot of this stuff is snake oil fanboy "I got something special" collector bullshit. Yeah there will be differences but some people just take it over the top.

Definitely agreed. While I do think the rev F was better than my rev G, they are both great.
