Why do people rave about GNR gigs nowadays?

Maybe they actually went to a show and it was good?

Why do people watch YouTube in their basement and assume they know everything?

I wouldn't go after watching the videos I've seen. Like I said, big fan, but I missed them in their heyday and I have no desire to ruin my perception of the band by going to see them in their decline.

I always liked GNR BUT always hated Mr. Rose. I never thought he sounded good, but I'm an older guy to be fair. I enjoyed a lot of Slash's stuff since he left the band though.

I used to love Velvet Revolver. Awesome band.

Not my experience at all. Saw Slash with Myles Kennedy some years ago and I was really surprised at how much cleaner and faster he was compared to his glory days of the early 90s (saw them in 92). He clearly spent some time woodshedding. He also was playing very cleanly with Guns last summer. No matter how much people shit on him (don't know why really. Jealousy ?), he's a really good guitarist. The funniest thing was witnessing Richard Fortus trying his best to outshred Slash (which he easily did as he's really lightning fast), yet his solos were much less interesting.

Oh yeah, Slash is up there among the all-time guitar gods. What I always loved about the albums was the way he and Izzy played countermelodies, made the music sound so badass.
