Why do people really consider the VH4 a Metal amp?

To the original question - cause James Hetfield plays it. You can't get much more metal than this :)
It is the ultimate metal machine. Considered or not. Einy too. I'll get a VH4 sooner or later - that's inevitable.
Olaf looks as metal as me, but sometimes people around cannot believe the sounds spreading from my car stereo (Dark Tranquility last record - to get a remote idea), while me sitting in hand made suit and tie in. So yes, Olaf, you do look metal :)
I am playing a lot of acoustic stuff (fingerpicking, yada yada yada), I listen to a lot of other styles and I started with classical guitar playing (and classical piano before that), but me will stay rock'n'rolling metal till the end:)
My 11 months old sweetie calms down only with early Metallica albums. Not that we didn't try everything else - classical music, lullabies, pop, rock whatever. When she hears the first chords of Battery or Master of Puppets she is just starting to listen and enjoys it. Go figure - must be genetic stuff :)

Maybe because channel 3 is completely amazing at quick wristed metal riffs and channel 4 is great for liquid leads?? I agree, the VH4 is so versatile it's sickening, but it's just as metal as it is versatile IMO. I'd take a VH4 over a Herbert, Rectifier, or Nitro anyday of the week for metal stuff.

Looks pretty damn metal to me

I think a lot of these amps are deceiving. I have a Herbert that just kills with my Tele for cleans. Honestly we use it more then my Deluxe Reverb for cleans. It's all over this new country record we are finishing.

Herbert cleans are the best, period. The only thing better than that is a wet/dry rig of it mixed with VH4 ch1.

But even Hetfield....his tone is sick but it's not that "HEAVY" compared to some other death metal bands

Bingo, any other Nile fans here? THAT'S heavy.

To the metal 'lookingness' thing earlier - it works the other way, I've had some rather funny looks when people see/hear me in my car, see a guy with a pointy beard and long hair listening to Pachabel's Canon/Edgar - Nimrod/Beethoven

For many years, Artur. Then I switched to a Herbert, and got Einstein #0001.

I can't remember the VH4... I was comparing it to a Herbert ages ago before I bought mine. Would love to play one again now that I know so well the sound of the Herbert.
