Why I like amp fests

I’m somewhat of a snob myself but in my view, as well as a few others from private correspondence here and elsewhere, he goes well and beyond mere snobbery into patronizing arrogance. I don’t bust into NGD threads and mockingly congratulate someone on their new “furniture with strings attached” Tom Anderson, try to show others the “error of their ways” in preferring a Recto’s Red channel or perform enough 180 degree opinion reversals that would make a ballerina dizzy (“The Wizard HR is the only Wizard worth my time. They should discontinue the rest of them! Please take this formerly prized but now lowly MTL away for it offends me now”) I’m only slightly paraphrasing here and you know it. This level of condescension is fit for TGP, not here.

Amp makers don’t care and would rarely even be aware of random forumites posts and opinions of the amps they make. They might care a little from signed artists or the bigger YT reviewers. And that’s not me, you or him.
I can see your point. I call Sam arrogant and elitist (fondly) all the time. He always denies it. So possibly he doesn't see it that way. I know some is lost in translation. But I am an arrogant fuck myself.

As far as amp makers. I hope they don't care. I have heard otherwise. But I truly am not every trying to make one feel bad, and if ever I am, I will make it real obvious

Man. I am Griffin Pedals biggest fan, so it disappoints me to say this. But this superdrive pedal that I got from Matt is no good. I was playing at 125 dbs today (i just left the master where we were playing from yesterday [2 oclock]) and I was digging the fucking tone. So I look down and to my suprise the boost was off. I was like, damn this good without the boost, so kick it on....It sounded Hollow.

I am so sad, because the OG was a fucking barnburner. Such a powerful low cut.
Shit responds different to different amps and cabs . Just Fuvk with it

I never said any of those things when it was a NGD or NAD for those particular items. It was always in a thread about something else. For other's NAD or NGD's I'll say congrats or good things like that if it's something I think is cool, otherwise I just won't participate in the thread. A lot I guess gets lost in translation in texting vs in person interactions, but it's fine if other's get that impression of me. The part about the red ch in that thread was meant to be humorous (as seen by the laugh up votes it got). If others interpreted differently whatever then

I'm a nobody and never claimed otherwise, but I have talked with some one man shop type amp and pickup makers who's stuff I love and bought from them and was very honest with them again in qualities I didn't care for (including stuff like filtered, etc), but I did so because I respect them and wanted to be honest. There was no offense taken, but it's much easier to explain when I called them rather than just written texts like here. I think some here just take some things out of context. I have done that too with some here before calling or meeting them to see they're actually very cool guys that I misunderstood from how they post here

I think this is particularly true with in person vs text. There are a lot of people here that think i am someone different just because i fuck with people a lot (in good fun). @VonBonfire os a great example of this. Dude is real chill in person and fun to hang out with, but here he is a master troll, lmao

There's no need I feel to walk on egg shells. Having our opinions and explaining them is not arrogant or elitist. I love seeing others do the same and have a fun discussion if it is in disagreement with me. No one is claiming to have amazing skills at something. You're not arrogant at all. I admittedly was being more of a dick than usual in this thread, but it's because I know we know each other well enough to do that now and I get there have been some implications that I didn't intend, so I guess I'll work on some filtering maybe in the future (sorry)

Your uber ultra hate makes me laugh so hard

Yes exactly. Sometimes there are inside jokes or a few other little things we say that maybe won't make sense to others. If some guys here and there judge me negatively for that it's fine by me

Oh yeah that is a more polarizing area and actually some of the UU fans I know actually love when I go there and they know it's in good fun. I would find it amusing to be on receiving end of this kind of stuff. There's no need take offense if one doesn't like gear someone else likes

Let’s not get bogged down with samantics

I have some "snobbish" opinions too :dunno: Don't get me started on dimarzio mids or especially BKP

I don't agree with Sam on everything (especially vintage pickups, YIKES sam) but even when I disagree with his take, I can generally understand where he's coming from on things. And I don't think it comes from a place of malice or condescension, it's just his take man.

I don't think he's ever a gigantic asshole about it

This is one of your "polarizing" takes where I feel like I know what you're talking about, and it makes me want to try an UU because it has less of what you like in the super early Ubers that I think sounds like salty garbage :ROFLMAO:

Yeah you should try one if you can and see what you think. And see I love hearing these takes because like me you can actually articulate well what you don't like in the amps and I get why and love hearing about it. The others need to grow up. I still though want make a decent close mic clip of it and pm you to see what you think. Don't hold back on your opinions. At least you liked the RK100. I can live with that as it's my current favorite

Dimarzio's and BKP's are some of my all-time least favorite pickups. Awful!!

I'm just cutting to the chase on my opinions and here and there sprinkling in some sarcastic humor. It's not my problem if others are offended by that. I can send you some of my favorite vintage pickups to try and again be honest what you think. We may not be as different on opinions of these pickups as you think, at least of what I'd send you, knowing I think now pretty well what you like

Yeah I would rather have you be opinionated and clearly articulate your opinions than it be something I agree with, because it feels like I have a baseline for what you like you know?

And I absolutely love the old Cornford stuff - especially for leads it just has the "thing" especially for shreddy runs. Woody, rubbery, articulate. That RK just has more of it than the hellcat and MK i've played so I was pretty impressed with the clip tbh, killer sounding amp and I don't doubt that it's even better in the room.

I would love to hear an UU close mic clip especially because the originals have this low mid fart sound that makes me want to jump off a bridge, and everyone describes the ultra as more tight and filtered, which IMO is exactly what the original needs to not drive me insane

I think it's more that I've played a lot of examples of vintage pickups, and they vary so much in tolerance that I discount them based on that - I don't want to waste money on something that is basically useless because the right person wasn't working that day, or it hasn't degaussed in just the right fashion

I do like old bill lawrence XLs and old dirty fingers, but especially some of the gretsch and mighty mite ones you like, I've played good sounding ones and absolutely horrific dogshit ones, and i'm not going to recommend a mystery box when people ask me about pickups to try :ROFLMAO:
