Why is the EVH cab sooo cheap?

I had a 5153. I thought is was a good amp. But it or any iteration of it are not something I would ever be interested in again. I had the 412 cab. The good one. But i sold it cuz it didn't fit with my amps...Obviously when you do something like that you are about to get an amp that fits with it. The day I sold it, guy brought over a silver jubilee and played through it. One of the best sounds I had ever heard. Now I have a wizard that I would love to try through that cab..

Really looks like a money grab, dont think Ed would be to pleased, could be wrong.

If it sounds fine, is reliable, and is affordable, those are all good things. Just don't know if the first two things are true yet.

Preorders for these heads and cabs are happening now with projected delivery dates towards the end of the year. Chances are a not so insignificant portion of these products will require servicing even before they reach these shores!

Because most people don't want a 4x12 cabinet. "Collectors" piss themselves over vintage Marshall 4x12's... Why? They just gotta have it!
No, because they sound INCREDIBLE. Unless you are talking about someone who buys one just to stare at it. Everyone knows for the BEST tone you play through a good 4x12. No, a modeler won't sound like that. Unless you are running it through a 4x12.
It doesn't get much better than any amp through a vintage Marshall 4x12 with original vintage Celestions. Don't agree?
Then it's obvious to me you've never played through one.

Considering you can buy a used 4x12 as little as $150-$250 i don't consider a $500 cab which with tax is closer to $600 as "so cheap".
Lol. You find me that used 4x12 with that cheap, and I will buy it. I remember those days like 3 years plus ago. But now dipshits are trying to get that for unloaded cabs.

10-4 and when da fuck did MIM Strats & Tele's start going for $600 to $800 bucks ?
And Squires for $400 to $500
See that alot now.
Lots of dippy shits for sure.

Yeah. I went ahead and canceled this order. I am on buying hiatus for now. Trying to convince @novosibir to build me an amp. :)

The iconic series does appear to be a significant step down from the 5150 series heads - which in my opinion are good quality, really nice sounding amps - but not ‘expensive’ in the way that Suhr, Friedman, Bogner etc. are expensive. I’m doubting there will be a tone in the iconic that one could not find in the 6L6-5150 line. They may find a niche for these - but I can see this move watering down the overall line of gear.

I still think EVH should source Metro 12xxx style chassis and headshells and release a limited run of single channel Plexi style heads that have the Mod-5 / RT tone out of the box. Hell, hand wire the things and price them up the way they did with the B/W Frankenstein and Bumblebee reissue guitars. Not for everyone and many would scoff at a high price point. But use top tier components throughout and its a solid move in the right direction for the brand. The Frank / Bee replica tributes were foolishly priced - but excellent quality throughout, and I doubt there are any of those NOS unsold today.

You'd be wrong. From the ground up, it screams cheap. MDF, Chinese speakers, and Chinese built. My guess is, you'll get what you pay for.

The whole "Iconic" thing is a marketing gimmick. WHY would you compete with yourself? It's entry-level gear, plain and simple. If it comes out, and is really that wonderful, sales on the other 5150 III's would plummet, and they'd shoot themselves in the foot. There's not a shred of interest in owning any of these, from me. And, I have a hard time believing this was EVH's dying wish. Build cheap shit in China.
Actually, I think if it was MIM and a higher price point, THEN the EVH brand would be competing against itself. Aiming for a lower demographic broadens the market. I hardly think this was anything related to EVH's dying wish - more like another business opportunity that could be successful.

Those Ampeg cabs are horrific. They were the $299 special at GC back in the day. Too many times went to demo a head and that was all that was there. Wouldn’t even bother turning the amp on..lol

LOL, I had one of those $299 ampeg cabs in the day. It did sound like dick. However I gigged the fuck out of it, and later passed it down do my niece. I shit you not, after all the years of road abuse, and break-in it's one of the best sounding cabs you'll hear. She brought it to me to fix the jack. It blew all my marshal, bogner, and mesa cabs away.

I always see the old carvin cabs with the eminence speakers in them around that range in southern california on craigslist. great cabs for a great price. Ive personally never paid more than 225 for a marshall 1960 cab.

In my experience MDF cabs can sound fine, as long as they're not loaded with garbage speakers. Jury is still out on wtf these EVH speakers actually are

Wanna make a gentlemen's bet that they're rebranded Rocket 50s? :ROFLMAO:

Maybe they're some variation on a G12L.

It seems there are many lower priced cabs loaded with G12L speakers with little tiny magnets. I have a Trace Elliott cab with G12L60s. It's kinda funny that a speaker with such a puny magnet is rated at 60 watts.
