Why the hairband? Surely it would be WAY more impressive...

guy's awesome!

but fuck if I don't hate all that sweeping shit anymore....impressive to do, but it bores me musically...all his other stuff was great though

Tons of guys use a hairtie like that, especially in the studio. Doesn't make me think any less of what they're playing.

I understand it in the studio, but not all the time. It surely encourages sloppy technique? I'm not arguing that what he's playing isn't impressive. Of course it is, but it would be even more impressive with the potential for the open strings to be ringing, and he was controlling them.

word. after about 45 seconds, it got boring. Yes. I wish I could play like that, but I hope I would have the sense not to wear out the flashy stuff.

What's witht the hair band? Mute? what happens when it's time to play (power) chords or is that forbidden in wanker-land?

thank you for this thread, i've just ordered In The Wake Of Chaos

the way he holds his pick and does his sweeps bothered me so much i had to close the video  :scared:

That guy's awesome! Why is everyone making a big deal about the hairband?
A speed player that actually has some great tunes and melodic. He's one of the best ever for tapping and sweeping but it does get a little old after a couple of tunes.

He's anything but sloppy. I did not hear one wrong note in the couple of videos I saw. On the other hand, it would sound sloppier if he did not have it on for the techniques he's using.

Just quickly move the hairtie up past the first fret so it isn't muting anything.

once you get past the sweeping shit, there's alotta tastey licks going on...

Weeedly weedly whir whir whir woooo....

That was almost music :scared:

I just can't get into that. Chops for chops sake just have never done it for me. Gets old after about 30 seconds. Maybe less....

Sometimes I wonder if people that are that good suffer because of their technical abilities. Their chops possibly can get in the way of creating "music"?

Then I see Guthrie Govan, Steve Vai, Ed D and others and I reconsider that.

Stay away from mesa. They are more hassle than they're worth. Stick with the peavey, they are more versatile. I own one and i have used pretty much everything. Mesa are like marshalls in the sense that there is no point having any eq on them, you cant get an individual tone out of them.

Oh and i forgot to mention, the effects loops are notoriously bad.

I don't mind the hairband, but saying something like that is just retarded.

The hairband doesnt give everyone the ability to tap and sweep, if it did I'd no doubt have 34 hairbands on my guitar   The guys pretty good, around 1:00 or so he does some pretty cool string skipping stuff and then cuts down on sweeps, it's neat stuff
