You can choose no, but a girl in the bar will keep asking you to put on music until you do. It actually allows the main character to select which cassette tape and side to play. There are people in the bar in this particular scene that will start dancing to the music. Depending on the music selected they might complain or want to get freaky with the player. The dude in the bathroom, upper left, is partying like it's the 80s... Since, well that's when it takes place
