That thing looks prime for a set of BKP Rebel yells for sure! :) That's a sweet axe...congrats on it!

For 1800 bucks it was hard to beat- brand new condition with an unbelievable top, all set up, a little tough to play, like I like them.

Might be letting go of the antique natural 335 if anybody is interested.

Got it at a place Mr. Music in Boston. Go if you get a chance- great selection and great service:

Every man needs at least ONE Les Paul flametop. Ya just gotta have one!

And some good scotch.

Say hello to your guitars 3rd cousin. ;)

Nice! Yours looks more like the honeyburst or ice tea rather then cherry sunburst.

Only problem with the scotch is that at 51 I feel it the next day! Now back in the day, one of my old bands had a deal where the place gave us each three free Chivas's a night- That would put me under the table these days!

I have wondered if I am benefitting from someone else's distress. Did I get a good deal because the original owner lost a job or is having trouble keeping a home?

That saddens me, but I figure I helped out and gave the guitar a good home.

Took it out on a gig last night. What a screamer! The sounds through the Tourmaster were just ungodly. Channel 4 just had this really great contolled/uncontrolled feedback. I play solo, it is kind of nice that I can go nuts w/out thinking about what others are doing.

Saw Jeff Beck the other night. I am convinced he is a space alien- No human could play that well. This axe has me thinking about when he used an LP, although he is the master of the strat whammy bar. It's got me thinking about putting one of those Fender LSR nut on mine, like his.

That's a sweet looking Paul..I've always been a sucker for a honeyburst!

The naturals are really pretty. My antique natural 335 always get a lot of attention. Like the gold top also- almost got one of those.

The bass pickup on the flame top is a little muddy when distorted. Any suggestions? Raise it? Lower it? Amp EQ? (I find the Tourmaster really needs to be re-eq'd with different guitars.)

I'd hate to replace the pickup- But that is undoable. I'd listen to suggestions.

:D

Nice looking guitars guys. I love how Les Pauls look and sound. Its just a shame I cant play for crap on them.

I'm curious- Why do you think that is? My flame top does play differently then the others- Tight, harder to play. I like it. I've always liked guitars that argue with me a bit. *Like a good woman!* The LP has amazing sustain, absolutely in tune, great tone, and no buzzes. That's worth a little tightness to me.

Matthew's sensitive forearm requires a smooth body countour in order to play.

JK bro!
 :rock:I could get used to the contour :D but love the heavy feel and tone from a good LP

I mostly play the Gold Top 60 reissue and its a whole different feel than the Blonde Beauty,The PRS is lower action and smoother and sometimes harder to play because of it. The Fender Strats (MIA) are lower action in between the LP and PRS.

You guys are dicks!

There really is nothing I find comfortable about Pauls. They are bulky, the neck is generally fat, they weight a ton (though I did like the studio lites in this regard!) and if Im playing one sitting down it always feels like it wants to fall back off my leg. So its not so much a front contour issue, but the body in general I find bulky and generally heavy. My solution was to get a PRS CE instead, which I did a few years ago. I never play it. Not only does it not sound as much like a Paul, but I dont really like the shorter scale of those "type" of guitars anyway. I guess Im just a Strat guy.

But damn Pauls do sound great.
