Title says it all , looking for a FM3
Thanks guys !
Thanks guys !
Yeah but they have them listed for more than they cost new. I saw a couple pop up at a more reasonable price but at that time I wasnt sure if I wanted to buy one or not. They sold quickly so I didnt have a chance to decide.
They're supposed to be in stock this weekIs there a waitlist for the FM3 again? I thought they closed it and offered them to everyone last year? Half tempted to say I'll sell you mine, but I feel like I'll instantly regret it
Some of the early ones came without the headphone jack (ask me how I know! ). Just be aware of that if not buying in person.
Thanks guys I have one on the way from "2prog4u" ..........with headphone jack , lol
If any of you FM3 users have any tips or links to a good video for quick setup to get me going and making patches that sound good I appreciate it.
Schedule? It was freaking HILARIOUS reading all the Fractal fanbois making excuses over that debacle.
My favorite was it was the factory's fault cause they simply forgot to add it.
I know exactly why they had to ship that first batch without headphone operation......
Schedule?
makes senseExtremely doubtful.
I'd put all of my money on they couldn't get FCC approval yet because
the headphone cable was emitting too much RF noise.
The big tell for me was the missing hole on the back plate. All of the rear
panel holes would normally get punched in a single stamping process.
A decision was made to remove that single pin in the tool so the jack hole
would be omitted.
Those holes are punched before plating, painting, and silkscreen, so there's no
way the missing hole was a mistake - because there's inspections between
each of those steps.
If it was a mistake the raw plates would have been scrapped and re-done to
include the headphone feature.
Agency testing can be extremely difficult because they will only deal in
PASS or FAIL. You can pass 99 of 100 testing requirements and then get stuck
on just one for weeks and even months if complete PCB revisions are needed.
My bet is rather than wait to do another round of testing, Fractal made the
decision to produce the first large order without the headphones. FCC would
have given them their authorization based on the 99 passed tests. Then they
get the cert. # revised once they pass #100.
TL;DR
They couldn't get agency approvals for the headphone circuit.
