Wtf is going on with B.C Rich

They look to be rebooting the entire company this year. Lots of new models coming. New owners I guess?

I think that they are damned to fail to be honest.

They put out garbage for a long time. They body styles are not "cool" anymore to most anyways. They have dug themselves a deep grave.

I think the koa Mockingbird this year looks awesome, makes me think of classic Derringer or Joe Perry. If it didn't have the Floyd, I think it would be a go for me (might still do it anyways). Always loved Brad Whitford's Eagle too, wish they would reissue that model with a classic spec.

Great to see new Warlocks as well (one of my all time favorite "metal" shapes) but these new ones are too blingy on the binding for me.

The new line is cool with the Evertune bridge and Fishman modern pickups, but that typical Korean build look with the bad abalone binding is a complete turnoff.

I saw something on a video the other day that touched on this very subject. The theory was that BC Rich put too much into Guitar Center. GC stocks what sells which were the lower end guitars. So people stopped associating BC Rich with high-end guitars and only the cheap stuff which drove the company down, especially as GC has gone down as well.

I’m not sure, I have no inside info, but that theory does make sense. When I think of BC Rich right or wrong, the first thing that popped in my head are cheap metal looking guitars.

I think they are doing fine. Look up Chondro's snake pit on FB, he just had a huge order come in. I played a couple and those Fishman PUPs sound incredible.

I remember BCR from the “glory days” of the American neck through guitars, I don’t think they will EVER get back to that, so I look for used ones. I have a Koa Mockingbird from that time and it’s a GREAT guitar. It’s unfortunate that they put out so much plywood shit over the years, kind of like Charvel/Jackson starting with the IMC guitars (Fort Worth) in the 80s, but worse.

Good point. Even if I did run across an amazing US-made Mockingbird in red or blue, I probably wouldn't even consider it because it'd look just like those cheapo ones you always see at GC.

Anybody who knows anything about BC Rich could spot an amazing USA made version from a mile away and know the difference. But I see your point because I would never buy a cheap BCR import, and I’m also turned off buy their over saturation of the market with those guitars. Although I would make an exception for one of those Czech hand made BCR’s they made a few years back. I’ve had some Czech hand made Dean’s and they’re great guitars.

Totally agree. Sharp looking guitars with some great options but the abalone binding looks cheap and gaudy.

I’ve owned I think 8-10 BC Rich guitars since 1987.
My iron birds were my faves.

If they did a Brad Whitford Eagle, done right, I’d buy it in a second. I’ve been looking for years for one like that. Such a cool guitar and what a great player. I had a Bich back in the day and I loved that guitar. Don’t remember where that one went??

I just want to see them 80's hair metal B.C Riches back in the game..

With the exception of the mockingbirds, too neck heavy.

the new models look nice. I would like to try a Shredzilla...

Didn't Neil Geraldo play an eagle too?

Not only did he play an Eagle, BC Rich had a signature Eagle for him. He had other cool BC Riches as well.
