Ive always dug this pedal and the demo sounded great!!! I first heard from Dave over at LA sound as he recommends it bigtime as his favorite distortion box and you see it on alot of the boards that they build..
XTS is a great company with some very cool products...
Pete,
You outdid yourself on this one! Awesome vid and playing. I've heard much about this pedal and you put together a great demo of it! Now I'm thinking...
I had just asked Dave at LA sound recently if this would do the Brown tone...he said yes and your vid showed it well!
Love that you demo'd the pedal on a Fender with the bright switch clicked on. I've been searching for years for a drive pedal that can go in front of my Twin Custom 15 set up the way I like it (heavy midrange in the Vibe channel with bright clicked on) and haven't found anything that works without an EQ inline - will have to give the Atomic a shot.
I've been recommending the Atomic as the best distortion pedal into a clean amp as long as I've owned mine. I have the XTS Preamp which is even more versatile.
Hi Mark- the Atomic has fatter mids and the Plexitone has big bass and lots of presence. So the Plexitone tends to work great into, say, an AC30 normal channel- also good into my Suhr Badgers-it really sounds killer into a "neutral" clean. The Atomic works really great into Fender cleans (mid scooped, brighter)- although you do have the extensive EQ on the Atomic to fine tune it as well. so it just depends on what amp you'd be running into, I'd say. They are both great at what they do.
My brother got this pedal for using into his plexi for his easy button EVH tones when he cant crank the amp and such. I have to say it is the first pedal that actually has some feel to it like a cranked slightly variaced tube amp and the tone is pretty damn good too.
