You guys heard Yngwies Attack!! recording? Looks like an import from 2002. I heard it last nite for the 1st time. Really like his playing and production on that one.
oh just the album. somehow I had never heard it beforeAre you referring to the album called Attack or is there a video of him doing the recording somewhere?
slowdowner time lolDamn, I was hoping there was a video from the studio or something, that would have been awesome.
Yes, it is a badass album. I wore it out, played it as much as I did the earlier stuff. Ship of Fools is fun as hell to play too, I'd recommend learning that tune. Baroque & Roll is a classic, fun to play too, but I can never get it up to speed.
i hear you man!! A lot of those licks are part alt pick, part legato and part econo pick and its all so dang smooth lolbeen in "Yngwie mode" myself this last week , relearning a bunch of his stuff I haven't played in years.
Can be pretty damn humbling LOL!
Yup it's Doogie...He had Derek on there too....It's a good record IMO. I wish he'd go back to a real singer again and get a great band going. I'd love it if he'd get with JSS again.....Jeff would be down with it I think.Who is singing on that one? Is it Doogie?

I get what you're saying.....There are cases when his best playing ever, his most over the top guitar playing on an album, where his chops were his absolute best of his career was when Mark Boals returned to the fold and Malmsteen released Alchemy.....which is a masterpiece of an album....Malmsteen outdid him self chops/riffs/songs/arrangements wise and just the whole package with a great band and great band effort. There's canned response that I hear people say his best playing on a studio album was his earlier shit......I disagree, Alchemy Yngwie outdid himself....seriously inhuman shit on that album....and the songs/riffs and just everything were so good. Even new licks from Yngwie on that one. A benchmark IMOSadly, he needs to leave more room for singers and less for harmonic minor and get back to his roots of " a lot is already better, you don't need even more.."
Hey, you won't get any disagreement with me about Eclipse lol.....Which is my FAV. and most nostalgic album from him...the combination of the Metal and AOR, the polished spacey production, and the amazing Goran Edman(my fav. Malmsteen singer), awesome synths....I LOVE that album, a personal fav.Alchemy was pretty crazy, I mean opening with Blitzkrieg I was like holy shit what just happened! I thought he had some fire back for that release and I have to think Boals had something to do with that. I still prefer up to Eclipse ( underated album I think that one kills) but Alchemy was really good.

Yeah, man just give the whole disc of Alchemy a spin some time.
Right on man!
Really, I've seen no lack of love for that album and rightfully so. In regards to Fire And Ice, while the general eq and production polish of the album they were going for was a step back from Eclipse....the songs/arrangements and ESPECIALLY the playing on Fire And Ice are very good. Eclipse is a great album(as I said a fav of mine) but the playing isn't as good as Fire And Ice. I love Fire And Ice......so many good songs....and the playing is over the top.....Yngwie IMO goes through phases of how much he gives a fuck enough to give his all.....His playing peaks chop wise IMO are Trilogy, Fire And Ice(the chops are insane), and Alchemy(special mention of the live 98 and Facing the Animal are big considerations). Some albums he just has more fire than others....sometimes he has great albums but the playing is laid back a tiny bit compared to his albums like listed above when he decides to go nuts.Ha! So cool.. there aren't many of us who love that album but it is almost my favourite as well. I think the songs are awesome, vocals are fantastic and he has so many amazing melodic arpeggio leads on the album. He was definitely focused for that one. Fire and Ice was a bit of a step down though there was some quality stuff there for sure. After that though, we are getting to the hit or miss era.
