Say what you want about him, he still out shreads every guitar player out there. He's the one player who plays like he does and hits every note clear as a bell. carry on

Amen brother. I can't think of many rock guitarists who have a taken a stratocaster plugged into stock non-master volume amps to a quantum leap with all virtuosity, passion, consistency, conviction , integrity without compromise and vision like YJM. Eric Johnson at one period ( who I think is in a class all by himself) had it going on until a newer/different musical direction too over.

All its takes ONE killer vibrato note from YJM, and it pretty much destroys everybody within that context!

I give Yngwie credit as he really brought Neo-classical to the main stream. But his head is running a close race with his ass on which is bigger. To me, most of his tracks start sounding the same.

p.s. Love those Hamers.

Is that a pic of you in your avatar?

It's funny how Yngwie smoked Eddie and Randy etc when he was only at his teens.:thumbsup:

You know i have an old interview with Randy from i think 1979 where Randy said he wanted to record an all instrumental album with classical influences. And he was going to quit Ozzy, he was sick and tired of that whole scene and touring and it sounds like he felt like he was limiting himself.

Sure, Yngwie had/has better lead playing chops than Randy had, but we can only imagine what Randy had in store for us. IMHO, he wrote much better songs than Yngwie could dream off, and Randy was extremely tasty in his note choice and phrases. IMHO, Yngwie never wrote anything that touches Revelation Mother Earth.

<applauds>

Sadly, we'll never know.

As long as you don't mind repetition, he's great.
