He was on fire in the early 80s. He started losing me gradually after Trilogy. At some point he started using his neck pickup and notch positions even more, and it seems like his playing lost a bit of intensity at the same time.

He's his band's worst singer though.

I adore that man! Brings me tons of joy to see him happy and healthy and tastefully shredding. Always fun to see him talk about guitar history, his love for the instrument truly shines through.
Could not agree more. Been a Yngwie nut since Steeler. Love that he’s so authentic. You know he dresses like that when he goes to the grocery store. It’s not a persona. It’s just him! That right hand picking technique is so incredible.

That's what I like about him. He is who he is, no pretend. And he is definitely a consummate showman. A dude who plays like that is going to naturally stick out in one way or another even without a guitar in his hands I think.

Love yngwie. First time I saw him was with Alcatrazz in 1983 at a small venue in Reseda,Ca. called the Country Club. Blew my mind! I was still grieving the loss of Randy, but seeing Yngwie helped... He was so full of fire and had a profound effect and influence on me as a teenager.

i was just happy to hear him playing with the cleaner technique and tone on this video which reminded me of his old steeler-early rising force era.

reminded me of the consecutive alcatrazz-rising force-marching out-trilogy tours i saw. the audience was more like a raging punk rock show back then!

ah the good ol days🤣

Did Yngwie improve between those tours? What was Your favorite?

the first rising force show at the Pomona Valley Auditorium was the best imo.

he was finally unshackled from being surrounded by sub par bands, like a ferrari stuck in rush hour traffic with a bunch of ancient horse drawn covered wagons finally getting the fast lane open to himself.

jens was easily his rival musically on keys, anders crushed on drums, and JSS was the perfect frontman. that to me was the lineup he should have cemented permanently.
he did a gig later in that tour with Talas/Billy Sheehan at the Palladium i had tickets to but couldn’t go, but my buddy Zach did and said he killed too.

now had Billy joined Rising Force back then it would have been major!!!

the marching out show was killer opening for Dio because it was my hometown of Honolulu and the PA at the Blaisdell Arena was way better so it was right up there. i liked Mark Boals vocals maybe a little more technically than JSS—sounded like a clean pop version of Dio—but Jeff looked more rock star cool!

the egos wouldn’t have worked but a super group lineup with Dio on vocals for one original collaboration album would have been a dream line up.

He's his band's worst singer though.
He also picks the hardest songs to sing on (e.g., your ships are burned)

Watched a bit of the live vid from Japan, the little steps and kicks :ROFLMAO::love:

@Kapo_Polenton nah, you’re right!

Absolutely love him, he knows he's a bit cheesy, but he doesn't care, he doesnt't feel he is bound by the shackles of 'you should'nt do that' or 'that's not what is expected of you'..... imho he exercises a bit of free will, good on him!

The fucker genuinely looks happy when he is playing.......

I spend a huge amount of time thinking psychoanalytically as part of my day job, and to see so many people with such a deep sense of inhibition that they appear genuinely sad is really painful to see, so to see someone like Yngwie.......makes me smile!
