Yeah, I saw it. Googled the website, and laughed at the price. Not a modeler guy, but I'd pop for an AXEFX 3 and a power amp instead. Once a price point gets to 4k, you're into used Wizard territory, and only a couple more to ordering a new one. I love rack gear, big time...but come on. Most players now are all computer based. I don't think this will get into enough hands to become popular at all. And is it just me or are there no controls for the gate except off/on? I'm betting it sounds kick ass in the room tho.

Think the Gate has a one knob adjustment. Threshold I guess.

$4 grand is a lot.

Am I the only one that hears VH4 tones in this thing?

IMO there's a lot in there to justify the price; not something I want though.

somehow my recent amp purchases represent my favorite classic amp tones Marshall, Mesa, Engl, Vox and most recently Fender. It wasn't intentional, it just turned out that way. I use my computer rig for most things, but really enjoy having these tube amps around and to crank up

And no MIDI? Anything that's a simple switch (channel, channel switches, effects loop on/off, solo on/off, etc.) would be easily controlled via MIDI. Even being unable to just do basic channel switching via MIDI is a huge oversight, but you can buy their proprietary footswitch which does little more than that for $330.

I also gather that you can't even check/adjust bias without unracking it and popping the cover, let alone change tubes. In all fairness, the Randall RT2/50 has probably spoiled me for how easy that can be.

It is cool seeing an all-tube, rack-based amp, but I'll be surprised if they sell very many of them.

No sure why you guys are acting like 4K is unreasonable. Yeah it's expensive, but no worse than what Mesa, Friedman, Soldano, Bogner, etc. are charging for their flagship models. Just looking at features alone, 4K actually seems more than reasonable to me.

I'm hearing a plethora of quality sounds. I even heard a change in tone/mids when it was switching between EL34, 6L6, and both. Many times that doesn't come across as well on other amps that can run several octal tubes. I did chuckle when the dude said 35 lbs was heavy. That's feather light; especially for 120 watts, if you're used to lugging around big iron. It doesn't seem to have MIDI which would be a letdown. With that many features and options it's pretty much a must have.

That said and as interesting as it is, I'm not convinced it could add to or replace what I already have. Also $4k is past my comfort threshold of what I want to spend on an amp. I'm also not really sure who this is being marketed to. I think the younger crowd would go for a modeler and old schoolers would rather vintage iron. That plus, there's not too many analog rack guys around anymore. But overall, I wouldn't be fully opposed to checking one out if it came up at a good price used. I'll at least add it to my list to keep an eye on.
