Youtuber gets excellent tones out of a 71 metal panel

I'm pretty sure you're having trouble differentiating the tone from the playing.

If it was ola playing that same amp in that room, you would be like "oh wow that's what I like"

I have a different opinion than Dan :dunno:

I know how to separate the two my friend. Not sure why you said that. He is certainly a better player than myself  and I focused on the tone part. Also, I didn't say it was bad - I just didn't think it was the best. It has some of the grating distortion in the upper frequencies that sometimes rubs me wrong. Different strokes. The Ola comment? No comment.

Have a great one - and carry on. Glad everyone else thinks it is great.

What is left then? Jazz fusion? The guy is playing what he can..there's that too. Not sure arpeggios are his thing.

There's literally 50 years of music between 60s cowboy chords and Tim Henson, man.

I didn't mean it in an offensive "you're stupid" way, I meant it as a "I don't like the noodly boomer solos either, but if you played power chords and palm muting with a bunch of these sounds, especially the sections boosted with the klon, I would bet you 100$ your opinion would be different"

"If you don't play Tim Henson or AC/DC/Slash, the literal only music left is jazz fusion" - RigTalk Logic™️
To be fair, everything in your world appears to be equally polar. It’s either ‘boomer’ or…whatever the opposite of boomer is. You seem to be obsessed with it or something you bring it up so much. Boomer this, boomer-y that, everything in boomer-terms. It’s not like people choose what year they are born.

Signed,
Boomery Boomerton

To be fair, I hate Tim Henson and Kiss (ask @rsm ) and Pearl Jam vocalists (ask @Smash ) just as much - it's just a matter of you taking offense to me talking about boomer shit when it comes up on the "EVH took a shidd one time hoss" thread that gets posted every nanosecond.

Things Dan also hates to make sure everyone's included:

Tool (the only band named after their target audience)

Indie rock hipsters

Poptimism

Nu-Metal (drink the piss, suck the dick)

Things Dan does like:

90's dance/new jack swing production

Varg

Roxy pickups
Those are all 100% true, as meme-y as it sounds

Yes, I enjoy noted african-american enthusiast Varg/Burzum as well as Teddy Riley/Babyface, and if anyone would like to hurt my fee fees about it, it's fair game

It's funny because it's true.

If you read between the lines Maynard even talks about hating his fans LMFAO

Nah, I don’t like TH I just defend him because when I was young EVH/Yngwie got similar treatment from the ‘boomers’ (ie old fucks) of my day. Always thought KISS was a joke, Vedder was only cool while Evenflow was fresh.

I don’t post that much in the EVH threads. I think the ‘EVH thread-haters’ post more than I do in EVH threads. Your drive-bys in those is a non-issue.

You just use the word boomer a lot.

That's fair, I do

It's a very common shorthand used by every generation (gen x, millennials, zoomers) after boomers, because there is a very sharp cultural divide that boomers basically created :dunno:

If you'd like a thoughtful socio-politcal exploration of this, I can direct you places (youtube: vox day's "why do I hate boomers" edit: its this video I was thinking of, not the "why do I hate boomers" )

But my Mom is a boomer, and it's obviously not all boomers that do "the boomer thing." NABALT, as it were.

There is a very real reason that we all say and use the word like that though, and it would be a very "boomer" thing to just rail against it without understanding why.

So, you're saying you do like Dream Theater, and Allan Holdsworth? :D

Absolutely can't stand Dream Theater, they're like the poor man's Fates Warning, and an even poorer man's Royal Hunt that only got famous because New York and Berklee and music nerds that can't write songs

Holdsworth is an amazing guitar player as long as I don't have to actually listen to his music, I can certainly respect his innovation and technical ability though
