I'm glad he's sober,it's been over 2 months.I know a little something about it,it's a beautiful thing.

he seems excited to get back in his own studio and get the album out.

much respect for zakk for realizing his age. i think he realized his playing was suffering because of the stress and drinking.

he wanted to bleed black label, and thats what ozzy told him to do.

however, even though there is fresh playing in ozzy's band - ozzy cant sing for shit now. i dont like purchasing or listening to albums with major digital vocal work. the last ozzy show was a disaster - had it not been ozzy i wouldnt have bothered watching a second of it  :dunno:

hope the new BLS album is better than the previous ones. cant wait for firewinds new shit as well

I'm happy for zakk and it's great for his family. I met him before and he's a really nice guy.
Hopefully he stays sober and makes the best black label songs we have ever heard. I'm a huge fan but the later bls stuff hasn't been that great execpt for maybe 3 songs on each album.

Good for him hope he puts out some good music.

Alot of artists when they go sober their music starts to suck real bad...although his recent material already has bottomed out to alot of people.

I'm pretty pscyhed for him, always dug his playing, and he seemed like a really down to earth guy when I've seen him sober. Good for you Zakk, I hope the next BLS album kicks ass!

I agree, but Zakk got alot of bad press RE: His playing on that disc, his writing etc,and from what
i remember, the producer was telling him how and what to play, and Zakk wasn't happy with the
final outcome of that recording, but people blamed him anyway.LIke it's all his fault, lets blame
Zakk because his uses harmonics to much.
Just glad he's sober.

The recent health scare probably woke him up.
Good for him.

He used to come to the music store I worked at in probably 1990, he had just gotten with Ozzy and fresh to Hollywood. I use to jam with him and work on his Metaltronix amps (you young guys probably don't even know what I'm talking about) lol. Very nice, clean cut skinny kid. He had long hair but wasn't scroungey. Very strange path he went on. He use to wear coveralls, like a hillbilly. Back then I drank and drugged hard and thought he was a square. Funny world.

Great story James .... I liked that one better than rest on this thread.

i would fall under that young guys category. i have no idea what a metaltronix unit/amplifier is lol.

i loved the old zakk. the old zakk was as much of an influence for my playing than eddie van halen. i respected the high school video that was WAY back with Zyris. that was the zakk that influenced me to really take guitar to heart and put everything i could/can into it.

i still respect what he has done. i will not bewilder his name now either because what he has done for and with ozzy is for the record books. many many many awsome songs and live shows.

however the guy he is today i want nothing to do with. i wish he would wake up and clean up his act and get back on track. Gus is walking all over him now.

Metaltronix was a brand of high gain amps in the late 80's early nineties that Lee Jackson made. If memory serves me Lee use to mod and work on a lot of 80's shredders amps. He was very popular back then, funny you never hear his name around here. But Zakk endorsed the amp and used it for a time and I sold and worked on them at a shop on Sunset.

Actually the first time I met Zakk I was kind of a dick to him, I didn't know who he was and we were at a party and I was hammered as usual and there was a circle of us guys shootin the shit out in the yard and Zakk said 'I'm really excited I'm playing next week with Geezer', and I laughed in his face and said 'who Geezer Butler', he turned and scowled at me...lol It was Geezer Butler but in the end it was all good and I help keep his shitty Metaltronix amps alive for a time...lol

I heard something about Lee Jackson working on something new ? I would love to jam with Geezer. His riffs are killer.

Eh, I still think the guy's an asshole.
Based on what?

He did an in-store appearance at my old music store back in the early 90's. Hung out all day and went out that night...he was about as cool as they come...a sincerely nice and genuine dude.

What the fuck? Is that Jared Leto playing in a real fucking band? Shit I had no idea the actor from Fight Club had a band!
