VIDEO/AUDIO - 9 Amps Through a Greenback Cab and a V30 Cab.

So I ran a bunch of amps through an Avatar Celestion Greenback cab and a Recto OS V30, both 4x12's, both 8ohms. I added a couple of amps to the audio clips the weren't in the video; Fender Princeton and Vox AC30. The video has Marshalls, Bogner, Orange, Ceriatone. Just was wondering you guy's thoughts. It's strange how the different cabs react differently to different amps, with one amp the mids sound soft and hollow with a certain cab and then another amp through the same cab the mids sound forward and almost harsh. Crazy. Anyway I kind of have my opinions was just wondering what others thought. All clips are 421/57 into 2 neves.

All the time taken with amps and cabs and mics and the audio track of the video is recorded through the condenser mic on your camera.
 
Thanks for posting this. I thought the older amps sounded much better with GBs and the new ones much better with V30s.
 
For high gain it is a tie between the recto through the recto cab and the uber, I have gone back and forth with these amps before when I owned both and settled on the recto only because it was so much cheaper and and I could get my sound out of both, I also had more options and channels with the recto.
 
my fave of all of em is the Plexi through the Greenbacks....about as old school as it gets :D

I hadn't thought about it that way but it's pretty much spot on I think.

Awesome job man! The Bogner sounds amazing through both cabs.

Surprised how good the Princeton sounds through the Recto cab, Vox through the Recto isn't bad either.

that rev g triple recto for modern stuff sounded frikkin huge

marshalls through GBs pure classic tone, very nice

i love your shootout vids. have you ever considered reamping the same riff/riffs through all of them to give a more accurate idea? would probably save you a ton of time too!

the plexi through the recto cab REALLY sounded huge, vocal and present to me. i downloaded the tracks though, didnt bother with youtube.
 
Wow man. To my ear, the Avatar Greenback cab sounded juicier on almost all of the amps. The Recto with the Greenies was killer. I would have expected the V30s to be punchier and juicier, but it was the opposite. The V30 sounded flatter to me.
 
Loooove'd that ceriatone through the GB's, at least through these chintzy computer speakers.
 
Awesome job James! I like that you didn't use a boost or EQ with the modded Tripple Rec. ;)
 
Thanks for taking the time to post this James. I have heard more than a few times that a Recto sounds great through GBs. I never bothered to check it out for myself because I was happy with V30s. But damn I think I'm going to have to pick up one of those Avatar cabs w/GBs cabs now :D

That Ceriatone Plexi sounds fucking great! And that Uber... DAMN! :lol: :LOL:
