Lower/moderate output pups tend to work best - IME - with most of the Diezels I've tried. Not sure what it is - but this range of magnets seems to really let the amps shine. VH4, Hagen, D-Moll.
But I've also swapped stock pups for RebelYells in 3 of my Lesters as they are fkn mad good pups with all my amps - Diezels most certainly included. And they're not particularly "conservative" output pups, although not super-high output either.
Really depends on the wood, your playing style, the tones you're after, that touch-dynamic response feedback thing... It's super personal. But since being here on RT, and since being a Diezel proponent - I've always recommended lower/moderate output pups for Diezels and most who've taken my advice have said "yes". BKP RiffRaffs were a commonly cited pairing with Les Pauls and Diezels.
