He was absolutely the right choice after C.C left for a bag of cocaine. Grunge right around the corner, Kotzen gave them a sort of southern rock/blues vibe on a lot of the songs which worked with Brett's voice. Totally rippin player but always played for the song too. I imagine C.C listening to that after the fact and realizing just how bad he sucked as a lead player.

This is one of my favorite albums ever and the one that got me inspired to start playing guitar. Kotzen was absolutely on fire here

His only weakness as a " hired gun" is that he used his " gun" on Rikki's girl at the time. Bit of a douche move but Kotzen always came across as a stud with an immense talent so I can see where he might have slipped up by 80's band standards when the booze got flowing.

One of the best albums of my lifetime, this album is the reason I started to learn hybrid picking back in the day to play certain sections of the album. The solos on the album are crazy but a lot of the riffs are fun to play as well, I’ve been sound checking with Body Talk for 20 years now. Amazing album.

It’s always on in my house . I love the songs at this point but at first I had to get use to Brett’s preacher vocals on this album . The riffs mutate beautifully

Yeah, it’s definitely a different album for them, I remember getting it when I was 11 not knowing about cc leaving or anything and I fell in love with it while everyone else seemed to hate it, glad I stuck with it.

I guess my only problem was Brett’s vocals at times . Richie should have sang it all lol . He said that would have been his solo album basically even if it wasn’t a poison album . He definitely was musical direct . Also it’s cool watching him play the old hits live

His side of the story was that Rikki and the girl were broken up by the time it happened. Kotzen ended up marrying her

I’ve never heard this Poison stuff with Richie.

I love his playing and singing, but I simply cannot listen to Poison. Don’t care how good the leads are.
I get but grew on me big time
