Every wizard I've played you have to eq really carefully depending on the rest of the rig around it - ESPECIALLY with pickups or pedals with a mid hump like a JB or 808, cuz it's already naturally really mid forward
You got to try the hell razor
The eq is ridiculous and was hard to dial in because it was so powerful . And 3 gain knobs they interact with eq. I think you would like it a lot . Def unique mids but so perfect imo

My MC1 isnt like that at all….everything at noon pretty much, cept gain and volume. Sometimes I use a TS sometimes a sd1 sometimes nothing at all. All kinds of guitars and pickups. Only thing it isn’t happy with is the 7 string lower notes.

Agreed. 15 Wizards and no issue with eq on any (except the old school 2016 MTL MK1 I had which no matter what lacked mid to upper mid content for me). I feel they're the least picky of most any amp I've owned. Really easy to get along with any guitar/pup combo, speaker, cab, boost.

You get a hell razor yet ? Insanely good . It and Hermanson 5GS Marshall are my top 2 of all time

No, only because I refuse to spend the coin over a certain dollar amount...even for a Wizard despite them being one of my top 3. Of all the Wizards I've owned, I typically spend in the low to mid $3k range. I can't/won't do $4500 plus. Law of diminishing returns for me.

I totally understand that . I sold a lot of shit to get mine

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to try one and I've almost grabbed one a few times on the used market, but I like the vintage/modern vibe of the MCII, MC25 and MC. They just get so open, crunchy. and raw. And they take boosts so incredibly well it lets you just sculpt to obtain so many great tones/feels. And I run dual ISP subs with multiple 412s or 412/212 combo which gives monstrous low end and 3D girth.

That set up sounds amazing

You've had 15 Wizards

The W800 doesn't get talked about much but from clips it sounds pretty great too and their easier to find decent deals on since they're not one of the main 3 people look for

I played my MTL II for an hour yesterday and damn it’s a scooped sound for sure! Plugged into my IIC++ right after and so many more mids even with the classic V setting on the eq. Still like the MTL but it’s for blending with other amps IMO. The low end frequencies sit just right and the saturation feels very nice.

I had the W800 as my last amp. It is a very cool amp. The only thing with the Wizards is that they do have a upper mid spike that can be fatiguing. Pairing with correct speakers and eq'ing is important. No one accomplishes this as well as @RedB4Black I never got fatigued playing his amps.

The W800 with redbacks is nice. I had it with g12 h 30 annies for a long time. And it was glorious at volume for the first ten minutes, but could get a little grating after that. Recorded quite well though.

here is with v 30s mixed with k100s

i believe this is with the h30 annies

this is definitely h 30 annies

So, funny you talk about monster tone. I just started close micing the MGL. man. I am doing some weird shit with the k2, but in a few hours, I am going to get serious with it and make you a clip. If i can capture what is happening in the room...motherfucker.

Your mills cab is one of my favorite 4x12s ever and i havent even played it

I've always wanted to try a Mills 4x12 cab. They weren't in business for all that long and I've never played one but word is they're incredible cabs for high gain.

I've played a couple, and I don't know what kind of witch magic is involved with the construction/specs, but every single one has been an absolute monster

I've read about how over-engineered they are. You know that single 2x4 you see in most 4x12 cabs nailed into the middle of the baffle between the four speakers that sticks straight out to brace against the back panel?

The Mills, instead of a single board, uses this:

They're so braced and overbuilt that you get minimal cab resonance and maximum direct speaker signal. It makes them really clear and direct sounding, amazing for high gain.

That certainly explains why every single one i've played has been completely out of this world good, no matter the speakers installed

It sucks dick that they stopped making cabs. What a cool product
