Jimmy underestimates AI. In my view it already has surpassed any alchemy. I have seen a number of individuals suggest there is something magical about humans. I'm pretty sure that is only ego.

My argument against AI used to be about doing it live, but after watching a dude get shitfaced on Saturday and step on a sketchy snake, unplug his guitar, and damn near fall over multiple times all while the drummer was yelling and throwing sticks at him, I'm not so sure. Pretty sure AI can't do that, but who wants to watch that?

Very true.
AI can not destroy a hotel room.
As Joe Walsh has pointed out.

But I would bet AI could have software that emulates choices made by intoxicated individuals.
So there is still hope.

We need more drones and robots involved. Getting AI where it is needed. On stage entertaining us.

Psychologically the human ego is a major player in humanity’s function.

I was gonna say tbf Page is definitely the GOAT expert in ripping off other people's riffs, and songs. I say this as a life long Zeppelin lover, and devoted Jimmy Page fanboi.
Page is the last person who should be complaining about this topic. He’s got zero credibility, and I too am a Zepnerd.

I will say I agree with Page 100%, and tbt outside of technical and scientific areas such as physics, medical research, and materials composition I think there should be a line drawn between where AI may go, and where only humans are allowed to go. Arts should be soley on the human only side of that line, but unfortunately we all see already that will not be the case.

I get what you're saying, but he's QB'ing for our team and I don't gaf if his balls are deflated as long as we are putting up points. Otoh unfortunately in the end this is a game the tech sector and large corporations will win, and humanity will lose. The refs are not on our side.

All the "Jimmy Page is a ripoff artist" conjecture is way overblown. Yeah, I've heard all the borrowed bits and pieces compared to the original sources. The thing is, LZ and JP took a few words, notes and motifs and built entirely NEW reimagined, full rock band arrangements with them in a way their heroes couldn't dream of. They changed and adapted that "inspiration" far more than those old blues artists did when they were copying each other for decades. Which by the way is a fully embraced long standing blues tradition, so what's the problem?

Period.

I've already said there isn't one. Music occupies a weird space in the arts, unlike literature, or visual fine arts which are based or built on descriptions, representations, and images of our world and human interactions which all can relate to through life experiences, music is fabricated soley from human imagination and logical decision making. A musician doesn't go sit down in a valley meadow to paint a landscape, trying to copy in varying degrees the detail, vibrancy, depth, and emotion evoked in the natural scene. A musician doesn't look at a model or, or a table set with objects, or a bunch of happy little trees, and copy them to the best of their ability.

Instead musicians learn shapes, patterns, notes, numbers, techniques, and rules, and we learn them mostly by watching and listening to other musicians, and then copying them, as well as mostly following the coopted rules established by generations of former musicians. Plagiarism is the RNA in our genetic code.

We then use those to abstractly represent real world concepts, objects, emotions, and elicit certain primal emotional responses.

A lot of people, especially artists, who are pro evolution(read modernizing/socializing society), loves pushing their agenda throughout the media, but only until it gets to their profession. Then, all of a sudden it's an evil and bad thing. Lars and Napster is the perfect example.
I hope Jimmy Page is truly concerned with the future of good music, instead of just losing future Led Zeppelin fans to AI made music.

I like how you typed fans where it should read royalties.

BOOM.

I've learned a valuable lesson about A.I., the Internet, etc. Having everything at your fingertips and ability to create absolutely anything at will, sucks ass.

All of this i formation and capability has just made us all more anxious. I think A.I. Will enable some cool stuff but it is going to get nuts.
