So this MXR Randy Rhoads pedal was just released a few days ago and already the opportunist scumbag greedy bastards are capitalizing on the limited quantity and just snagging these up only to rip off fans and guitar players who really wanted one of these pedals to actually use and add to their collection. I was wanting to get one myself because I'm a true fan of Randy's playing and was excited to get one. Well much to my surprise their already gone and it seems like a bunch were bought by people who probably don't ever play guitar or are even fans of Randy's as many are listed on Ebay and Reverb for 600.00 plus .

I absolutely refuse to give a dime to these scum sucking assholes. Anyway, some may say if you really want one you will pay what the demand is.. Whatever as it's clear some were bought with the only intention immediately of reselling them for excessive profit just like a ticket scalper so it sucks for the guys out their who were hoping to get one at the manufactures price... End of Rant!

I got mine sent to me free for MXR for review purposes but I still haven't opened yet. Am honestly thinking of selling it on Reverb and putting the money towards something I actually need...

I think that's fair.

Why not sell it to the OP for what they were originally selling for??
Because if I sell it at all, I should get as much as I can to put towards something else. I don't like that it's made unaffordable to people but it's selling for hot cakes at four times the price. We know that two have sold for $1200. It's not my fault that it's selling for skyrocket prices and me not Follette trend does nothing for anyone - especially myself. It's a limited edition product, what did people think was going to happen?

Now if someone I knew personally needed it or was a Randy Rhoads fan, I'd willingly give it to them for free but that's purely personal peanut level.

Socialism vs Capitalism, it's kind of a basic concept. One guy suggests selling it for what he thinks is fair (original $169) while other in a free market can decide what they think is fair (for a non commodity item mind you.) Same argument buy people that are offended at cars cost or why someone would buy a BMW, Mercedes, Rolls Royce or a Line 6, Kemper or a Dumble. They're all the same right?

More or less.

I've given away $200 guitars and $2000 guitars to friends, pedals and amps too. Then there's some stuff I sell or keep because I know they're ones I'll never want to part with. It's harder for me to give to strangers simply because I don't know them. And I know someone will argue that giving to someone over the internet would be the same thing but it's not, if we're being adults.

As far as selling for the maximum gain, I don't see a problem with it. It's not like everyone bought it with the intent to flip and profit, they more likely saw that people were paying that much and figured "Why not? I could put that towards something more expensive, pay a bill, buy a new guitar, etc" It's normal.

people are often offended what others do to make money, and how they choose to spend their money - without knowing personal circumstances or motive. the recent youtube rant about the pedal is a great example of this.

Yeah, it's ridiculous.

But you're exactly right.. Nobody knows if they're going to donate the money to an orphanage, in all honesty if I did sell it now I'd just invest in some hardware for my church but like I said, I might just hang on to it. Don't know, don't care. MXR knows that I have a following on Facebook so they sent me a pedal that I never had any interest in, that doesn't mean I can't love it later but also doesn't mean I never deserved it.

I've learned that the guitar forums across sites containing 30-70 year olds mirror that of video games forums which consists of preteens to early 40's. People are passionate but in that passion blind themselves. Sometimes someone has to step in and remind them of the reality they want to pretend doesn't exist but life without somewhere to vent and "control" something is can be a difficult adventure.

I'll add, if that's what you need to do to make money (sell a pedal for 4x what you paid), that's pretty sad in the grand scheme of building wealth.

For perspective and comparison, imagine if you made 5-6 figures in market value for every +1% change in the market; let's say that's $20K, $150K, or even more.

If scalping a pedal makes you wealthier, you're doing it wrong. :D

For me, I got it for free so it would be free money in any case but yeah, I am not stupid enough to believe anyone here would do the same if they had that kind of chance. Coming from someone who owns a house with a 3 car garage and acres of land and has a family that I provide for, the proof of stability is there.

That's not even taking the fact for having 30+ guitars and so on. This isn't to brag but just to say that I'm not hurting, however people like money, it's natural, normal and human. If we could get everything for free we would and same for opposite, if we could get alot of money from selling something we paid very little for, we would. Doesn't make anyone scammers or scum just because the person who is having financial desperations can't afford. I think anyone who pretends it does is a dumbass and probably doesn't have enough life experience to know the value of a dollar.

Now, scalpers are a different story, with the intent should be to blame, not the sellers who bought innocently but choose to sell for how much people are willing to pay. The people paying were the problem to begin with, maybe even more so than the scalpers, why is nobody talking about that? It's simple, don't buy from the scalpers and the prices will lower.. However if the majority continues to buy at an insane price, you may be out of touch with reality.

They'll miss, They'll buy, and then THEY'LL CRY!!! 😆 🤣 😂 😹

I never wanted Randy's tone but it would be a cool addition to some of my other Randy collectible stuff as well as it would be fun to experiment with it. It's not the end of the world obviously and it is what it is...

I think MXR should of just made an initial run without ever mentioning it as a limited run and this wouldn't be a problem so they are somewhat responsible for the buying frenzy. Maybe they will realize the demand and make it a regular production run for a set amount of time as that would of been a better option.

That could totally happen but the buyers of this 3200 batch would probably be pissed, at the same time it might make this first batch worth 10x's more as opposed to just 3 or 4x's more.

As the saying goes "could always be worse".... for the consumer anyway. Us scalpers will always have the upper hand - in essence.

I was referring to scalpers, as they're doing it to make money. they're going to need many pedals to make $10K vs an investment that grows and/or generates profit.

it's about intent; if someone buys the pedal and either doesn't like it, or enough to keep it due to the market frenzy and sells it for a profit, that's a different intent.

IMO
