Stage Fright who has it?

My son had been playing guitar with his band FURY 58 for a few years. Recently decide to quit because he doesn't like playing live.
He is good at song writing and the computer stuff and Ive tried to convince him to keep writing and recording with them.
My Wife and I are very proud of him. But he hates playing live! Does this effect anyone else here, playing in front of crowds?

They released their 1st video, and he quit during the making of it. He helped put the song together and I thought they have some potential.

The video is a little cheesy but not horrible

I always had it. It’s the reason I picked up smoking at such a young age to knock off the nerves. Glad I quit smoking before I put myself in the ground with it.

I generally don’t mind now that I’m much older but I always get nervous with complex songs. I think the bigger question is how good are you at covering up your fuckups when they’re played loudly? The better you are there the less concerned you’ll be live.

Another part of it is practicing while standing. Like music you don’t get good at it without actually doing it.

Never had stage fright really but I always found that smaller crowds were harder to play for just because it felt like everyone was staring me down. Never liked attention all that much. Played probably 500 shows in my years and that never got any easier for me. Playing at a packed club was never an issue. Hopefully your son keeps writing and recording even if the live stuff doesn't work out for him.

Always felt it was uplifting to hear/see people going crazy, having fun, singing along, moshing.
It made me feel more like part of the total event and less focused on my insecurities.
House parties and small venues were my fav, tbh.
I also used to have little to no shame, so that probably helped some. 😅

has he said he hates playing live because he is scared or does he just not enjoy it? they are 2 different things.... everyone should be a little bit nervous every time they get on stage, that's when you know it is your passion
