What Marshall amp sounds like a Marshall?

I said a JCM800 2203/04 is where my mind goes to when I think Marshall. But I've been watching some of Jason's videos and damn if these aren't some sweet Marshall tones from some of his improvement mods.

I have a bone to pick with @burger now. Watching your videos has really given me the modding bug, but I'm at odds on which one I would want to try first. Plus I have to track down a good deal on a donor amp.

You can get that Marshall Midrange from all Marshalls...from an MG to a 68 Superlead. But, the amps that I like best are the ones that when dialed right, with/without a boost will literally bite your head off at volume....but stand off to the side a bit, and hit your fav AC/DC or VH riffs...and I get goosebumps it sounds SOO damn good. Like nothing else....not a Wiz, SLO, C+ or early Recto...NOTHING sounds as good to me as a cranked early 70s Superlead, or a cranked 2203 with/without a boost.
Those 2 are my fav tones, with an honorable mention to the 2210s as I have 2 absolute killers in the house now. Very underrated amps IMO.

To be honest, there's no Marshall with a similar sound to a JTM though which means it's nothing like the other Marshalls - even moreso when it starts to break up and overdrives, it's not like a Fender, it's not like a Vox. It's a Marshall set apart from other Marshall.

Even moreso for the "feeling" of a JTM series.

i just want one of these

Now I want to try one using an ES. You've got to stop doing this to me.

I also probably think of the 2203/2204 sound first, especially that classic Anthrax 80’s tone, but it’s hard to deny the pure AC/DC JTM tones. I also always think of the super lead tones on Mercyful Fate’s Melissa, but really super leads are used on so many albums and by so many players, they are probably “the” Marshall.
