What Marshall amp sounds like a Marshall?

THE Marshall tone for me, out of what I have had (which is a lot), was a JMP 2204. It is the one Marshall I've had that covered the gamut of my fav Marshall sounds, from AC/DC to Iron Maiden to GnR, Dokken, Ozzy NRFTW.
Hear it here, in a song I wrote for my best buddy ever:

I've had 4-holers, JMP and JCM 2204/3s, boutique handwired versions of those, DSLs, JVMs, and Sc/Sv studios.
I won't give up my 1984 4104 for anything.
But, if I have to choose my ideal model of the Marshall sound in one shot, that Jmp 2204 is it. 2 things: I gave it a lower value bright cap. And, it was running thru an old cab with Celestion greybacks.
It had the low mids of the early ACDC records. And that sucker got super tight and gainy when pushed.
So, in my world, after hearing all the records and owning all the different versions, the JMP 2204 is the Marshall sound to me. 1984 4104(my fav) & JMP/JCM 2203 being close seconds. 4 holers right behind them, but a bit before my time, so not my primary definition of that sound.

Here's another clip I made that shows a pic of my setup back then.

I agree a 2204 is really hard to beat imho. It would be my last amp to part with.

Everyone knows it’s the JVM
I like my JVM410H.

Sure, not my favorite, but it's a keeper; MV at 8+ is required IMO.

Very pleased with my new-to-me JCM 900 SL-X 5881 2100, still prefer the 1959x, and Engl E651.

Tough to say my fav Marshall tone comes from an Engl

Jvm can be good . I just like to play loud and I didn’t like it loud at band practice .

The JVM410H isn't a bad sounding amp, but I've always felt there was too much going on with it. One of those jack of all trades, master of none type things.

I've played through a couple jcm-900's, both sounded like Marshall's to me. Pretty underrated amp IMO. I A/B'd one of them with my Mesa Mark III at the time and it held it's own, I only liked the Mark III a bit more.
