The IIC+reissue goes live Dec. 3rd. $3599

Well we know we're getting DRG, SimulClass triode, which is always popular even though not my personal preference. I wish they would include a pentode / triode switch but oh well.

I'm most curious / concerned about what the guts are going to look like. IOW like a guitar amplifier, or like a PC?
You can always run an HRG and DRG in stereo.

25W class A, doesn’t that sound more like pentode? The OG simul-class is 75/15W. So if 75/25W is correct for the reissue, they won’t be the same.
Yes that's how it sounds, but 25/75 doesn't make sense, and I figure a bean counter wrote those specs, so I checked in with a reliable source...

Clips really won't matter with this amp. The only way to know, is to buy one and try it in person. Feel, obviously, doesn't translate in a clip...that's a BIG part of the C+ experience that no other amp has. It also has a clarity, 'chime' if you will in the high end that I can't hear on any clip....most clips of a C+ has them sounding just like a Mark III and in person, it ain't close.

I don't see the point, honestly. Doesn't this overlap with the JP2C and the Mark VII? I'd probably gravitate towards the JP, personally, simply for the dual EQ's and it's supposed to be a IIC+ anyway, no? I'm not Mesa expert...

Well... I am and it is. ;)

Difference is:

JP2C = HRG MKII+ (No-Simul-Class)
MKIIC+ Reissue = DRG MKII+ (Simul-Class)

I'd like a HRG MKII++ or dare I dream a KRG MKII++.

I had a C+ DRG and a loaded red stripe III at the same time. The III was inherently brighter but dialed down, they sounded the same to me.

They did feel different. The III was stiff and immediate. The C+ was softer/spongier. I could see liking either one more.

True story, and I'll let you know ;)

Well, they haven't got it right yet in the modern versions so IF they can get it right doing it this way, huge win.

MkV- based the C+ mode off the no-GEQ version. Not that I hate the no-EQ version, but it's just a low-gain version of the tone. Also less organic than the OG.

JP-2C- this one had potential, but there's a boxy mid hump from the hardwired pull deep and since there's no master volume its feel is pretty flat until the channel volume gets up over about 1:00, which is too loud for most people. Also less organic than the OG. A MV woud have been a game changer for this amp. Also also, I'd call this one a HRG C++ (not a C+). That said, on the mic it's pretty close.

VII- this one was almost so good. It has a bit of the organic feel that the V and JP lost. In the bedroom it's pretty good. Where it fell apart for me was a) a/bing it with an OG, the VII was just... weak. ..Then in the live band mix it disappeared like a modeller does. No push or balls at all.

My experience was far different. I first bought 2 Mk IIIs, a red and a purple...at the same time since they were cheap, 600-700 cheap. Comparing the 2, the Purple was much better sounding to me. But, both had this scratchy/harsh upper mid/high end that was nasty at best. Ugh.
Then, while I still had both IIIs I found a 2C SRG combo for 750. That amp was fn incredible. Just the most amazing raw, open killer tone. I immediately sold both Mk IIIs because it wasn't even fair how much better the 2C sounded. Well, of course I had to + it as it was going to be my first C+....and while it was still killer as a C+, I kind of regretted upgrading it since it lost a lot of that open/raw thing that was unique. It did quadruple the value though so that was a nice profit when I sold it...but damn, as a C it was amazing.

I agree man. I was so disappointed. It had the weak low end push of the 90w V but almost worse in a way since it mushes out where the V sounds like it has a very narrow bandwidth of low end frequencies. Too narrow to give you a proper kick with palm mutes and such. Hell, the 35w V has more balls than the 90w which still puzzles me.
