I’ve tried so many Suhr’s & TA’s (some really price ones as well) and just always found them sterile and many of them kinda choked sounding. They’re the exact opposite of what I find to be magical in a great instrument. Not at all the kind of guitars that inspire you to really listen and savor the notes

The ‘80’s Charvel SD’s I had were really good. I like even more this 1984 Jackson RR1 I got recently. My favorite Charvel in sound and playability was by far this green aged nitro CS one

This ‘57 LP Jr I got recently is my new #1 in sound (traded my other ‘57 Jr I had for 6 years toward it because it was so much better than when compared). It plays very well too, about as good as I’ve had for these guitars, but nothing IME (for me at least) seems to come close to Marchione’s for sleek playability (especially leadwork, just unfair how much better it is for that) and still also one of my faves for tone too
 
Here are a few since guys care about pics lol. They basically are what guys describe TA’s and Suhr’s to be, but deliver to the fantasies I interpreted of those

What is your opinion about the japanese counterparts that were made 2008-09?

The MiJ were actually made in 2010-11; after the USA pro mod line shut down. The Charvels were going to continue being made there but the Tsunami destroyed the factory.
Those are almost identical in most ways to the USAs; but had better rolled frets according to some. They also had a light finish on the necks that the USAs seem to have much less of....I've had 3. But, in the end I've had 5 USAs that are custom shop level in feel and tone. The MiJ that I've had seemed a little stiffer in feel. Killer guitars though..I just prefer the USA versions for those stated reasons.

Tom Anderson for me #1 playability and consistency from guitar to guitar. I’ve had about 8 of them or so and every one feels the same. The feel of the neck and the fretwork is outstanding and no different from guitar to guitar. You can’t say that for most guitar builders. Even the PRS and Suhr guitars I’ve had vary a good deal from guitar to guitar.

#2 for me would be ESP Japan but the ESP labeled guitars not the E-IIs. Don’t get me wrong there are some great E-IIs but are more hit or miss in my experience. I’ve also had a few recent Hufschmid guitars that are very impressive and worth mentioning. The playability on them is top tier.

Jackson/Charvel USA. When you find “a good one” keep it because it might take buying and selling a handful before finding another winner. I’ve had a few that were great and one now that I like a lot. I went through a lot of them over the years and most were just ok. Even though I’m not a Les Paul player this reminds of what I hear about Gibson guitars, out of a dozen there might be two or three that have the wow factor and the rest are just meh.
 
All three of my electrics are "that way" (similar nut width and non "baseball bat" C-shape necks).

1980 Gibson SG-R1 (HH)

1984 Charvel San Dimas with pointy headstock (HH), Kahler 2300 Pro "PAF" top mount tremolo and behind-the-nut string-lock

1996 MiM Strat (HSS)
 
I haven't owned many guitars, but I've had quite a few over the years. I ended up with a Charvel SoCal, a Schecter Super Shredder and my keeper is surprisingly an ordinary old LTD F250. Great feeling, great tone-wise.
 
My Danocaster double cut is the one in my collection that’s easiest to play/feels like I’ve had it for 30 years. The neck is perfect and it’s such a fun guitar to play.
