What amps have you not had ?

Wizard Dumble (will always have to settle for the many pedal options, I'm not made of money lol..that said, I'm using an AxeFX III lately and the ODS in that sounds pretty sweet) MESA Mark IIc Diezel Peters Suhr On those 1w Marshall's, I still think back to the day I walked into GC (when that...

Which album had the best guitar tone in the shred 80s days?

Just throwing out some favs INPO: Yngwie: Marching Out Lynch: BftA (in particular, the track "Stop Fighting Love" it's fucking perfect to me, rhythm AND the solo) Michael Lee Firkins: Debut album Extreme: Extreme

    Let’s talk about Ibanez for a minute…

Some players crap on the thin necks and prefer a beefier feel, I respect that, I have some guitars in that variety too, but man, as I age and deal with shorter playing sessions due to hand/wrist stiffness, damn the ego thing, I don't care, the necks on my two 'Nez are a breeze and rarely cause...

    Celestion Greenback paired with G12H-30?

I personally like this pairing, at least in a full mix setting. The warmer, chewy mids of a G12M and the more pissed off, toothy, tighter vibe of an H30 (55hz) work great together IME. I'll mic an H30 blackback for crunchy/heavy rhythm tones and then a G12M greenback for the leads.

OPINION: Modern Charvels aren't that good

Killer guitars (looks and specs)! I thought I was the only one that likes/knew about the Transition pickup lol, have a couple of them in different guitars (one bridge model, one neck, both sound great IMO). My first batch US Pro Mod and a more current test drive, a MiM DK24 (trying to scratch a...

Damn shame, he was one of the nicest, coolest members to grace this board. Prayers to his fam and friends.

Suggest a Microphone for electric guitar to compliment a 57

I love the e906 paired with the 57.

    101B does the 80s!

Sounds pissed off - excellent work! I've also been trying to tell dudes for years the xtc CAN do 80's tones, even made this short clip a few years back to support that lol...

    KRAMER gas....

Must've been a different guitar, I've had this since '83, never plan on parting with it (!)...as Marshall Law mentioned, the necks on these things are to die for. I can't explain it but even to this day, the neck on this guitar plays better than nearly anything I've ever owned, including my Suhr...

Is the slo all it’s cracked up to be ?

I love my SLO through Greenbacks although I admit I used it more as a shredder/rock/blues thing vs \m/etal chugging. It's just the perfect lead players amp. It does killer crunch rhythm stuff too of course, especially with a boost tossed in front, but man, the lead tones...yum.

    Bogner Modded Soldano

Now that you mention it, I do recall some discussion here or on another board maybe where he has this habit of making all his amps/tones sound the same (and in a bad way lol). Sad to hear all these points about someone being such a pompous, gear cop...sounds like a classic case of a dude being a...

    Bogner Modded Soldano

Didn't care for that clip/tone at all, has too many trapped bee's for me...not sure if it's simply the way he has it dialed in, poor speaker choice, bad mic placement, whatever, just not his best clip. Not sure why you'd want to mess with an SLO to begin with, they can sound plenty pissed off in...

    Favorite amp blend

I've been a two amps in a mix guy for a long time...currently I'm getting great results with a 101B XTC and the SLO. Briefly used a Friedman with the Bogner and that was a nice match too.

Totally agree. The QR can get great tones at home friendly volume with that loop knob.

    Vintage Video Gaming

That's sounds cool. I found one nearby as well, looked like an add-on to a pizza joint! I think they had about 40 vintage arcade machines, all in great working order and set to "free play", you just had to pay to enter the room. I would love a pinball machine for my media room! I wonder if they...

Monkey and Japetus explained it far better than I could have (more accurately) as it's a bit above my pay grade. I always looked at MAME more simply as a tool where some dudes way smarter than me figured out how to "rip the original game code" off those old boards and chipsets, then dump it onto...

Don't piss off the wife lol! I'm lucky, my gf is a fan of some vintage games, Mario Bros, Ms Pac Man, Galaga, etc. She's cute tho, she'll send me a pic of where she's knocked my initials off a high score with hers lol. Of course I usually return the favor (except Frogger, she owns Frogger, can't...

Thanks. Yep, using MAME (one of the latest versions 2.xx) - it has those "HLSL" settings that help make your modern PC monitor look like a CRT. It's so funny, I built this beefy PC for music recording, video editing, modern gaming, porn, etc...yet more times than not, in my down time I'm playing...
