My 82k is close but I suspect the 100k drifted up.I’ll have to take it out and test it. PI tilting too far on one triode I think can cause ghosting but I’m not sure
I thought so. Even the really good techs have trouble with it. It's considered to be part of the sound by many in an old Marshall. Some have it very faint at volume and others more so. It's not usually an OT but I have had a PT once act up at volume where it was causing a voltage drop; not...
The OT sees two tubes in a pair as one, as each OT leg is on one pair of tubes. The sum of those two tubes for current draw is what the OT sees. I match my tubes into two pairs. Usually a hotter one in the outside and cooler on the inside but it doesn't matter if it's vice versa. Take all four...
I can do alot of things on an old Marshall. I can replace everything there is from transformers to pots to caps. and do extensive mod work as well. One thing I can never track is the source of ghost notes.
Speaker cry, edge yowl, etc always ruled out. I do not have a signal generator or an O...
Two very different amps to compare. Night and day. Both sound good. Aldrich is 4 gain stages, not cathode follower, plate driven stack. I think the MOAB is more like a Jose so it uses clippers for its distortion with 3 stages(could have 4) and cathode follower.
There are a lot of issues with Fedex right now. UPS is aggressively going after their business. They just gave me a 62% discount on my account.
I can ship a 50# box that is 48x18x9 to the next state over for $21.00
Remove the head from your cab and try again. It sounds like power tube rattle. I get it too on some amps. Make sure your tubes are seated tight. Might need to retension the sockets or replace the tubes as one could be rattling. I bet that is the issue; a tube rattling that needs to be replaced...
