The loss of Shuguang plus the Russian sanctions created a pinch on supply, which were then amplified by panic buying and probably some price gouging. People kept buying them though, even at the inflated prices, which ends up setting a benchmark for what they're actually worth to buyers. Tubes...
There are plenty of everyday guitarists who like to brag up the unobtainium nature of their amp, pedal, or whatever, and how nothing else touches it, but you also can't get it anymore. I imagine some deep-pocketed collectors are probably even worse, and I think they're who these kinds of guitars...
Ibanez Tube King (US Version). Basically a Butler Tube Driver, but with an active EQ. I max the output, bump the mids a little, slight bit of bass cut, and then turn up the gain to the first notch where it's no longer perfectly clean, so just barely a hint of grit.
Does anyone think Ozzy's and Sharon's regard for Randy was as rose colored as they would have us believe? I've no doubt that they cared about Randy, but how they present themselves now and their version of history has a lot more to do with optics than reality. People especially love Randy, and...
And no MIDI? Anything that's a simple switch (channel, channel switches, effects loop on/off, solo on/off, etc.) would be easily controlled via MIDI. Even being unable to just do basic channel switching via MIDI is a huge oversight, but you can buy their proprietary footswitch which does little...
I have a pair of Yamaha HS8 at my workstation, and an EV PXM-12MP for when I need something portable. I think they're both great monitors. They're what let me finally go from amp-in-the-room to FRFR.
His aspirations and self-image exceed what he can achieve on his own, but he also doesn't play well with others. He seems fairly talented, but like a lot of talented people, he's his own worst enemy.
Very cool hearing this, and how much of the detail gets lost in production.
Maiden were my metal crush in the 80s. I had whatever posters and tshirts I could get my hands on. Live after Death was their first album I bought, and I'm pretty sure I bought it because of the artwork. I'm not sure I...
I've got the JSX 212 combo. It's got a really good clean for a channel switcher. The crunch channel is seems like a refined Marshall crunch. Maybe a little darker, and has more range of gain. It doesn't need a boost like a 2203 does to get the same level of crunch. The ultra channel is my least...
On the one hand, EVH could be a real asshole, and seemed to like to make his drinking everyone else's problem. Alex was loyal to his brother, but seemed to be less outwardly abrasive. Given the toxicity that was going on back then, especially towards the end, it's not at all impossible to think...
I like the Egnater Tourmaster 412, which came standard with V30s. I didn't even know that's what I was looking for until I found one on GC for a crazy low price, back when they'd ship a 412 for $40. It's the cab that every amp I've tried sounds great through. I liked it so much I bought a second...
You can own this abomination for just a hair under $6K

I'll add that Channel 2 of the KK is voiced similar to the Yeti by default, but Nic will do it like a Chupa if you want.
It's almost like a 2.5 channel amp. The "Solo" control is just a second master volume for channel 2...but it has its own ERA switch, so when you switch masters on...
I think some people like the color they impart. I think that's different than what's being discussed here, unless you're talking about how much the receiver loads the signal at its output.
I can't remember who else besides Angus, but I see to remember reading of others who stayed with those old...
Nope, I never said that about active pickups. They're great for people who like them, but they're not my thing. For people who like them, they do a great job of eliminating the need for a buffer at that point in the signal chain.
Have you seen the video of the corrugated Strat loaded with Strat...
Most of us are already using buffers, even if they're not labelled as such. Unless a pedal/device is true bypass, it's acting as a buffer. Your dedicated buffer pedal is only helping up to the point of the next buffered device in your chain, but sometimes that's all you need.
Whether a...
Yeah, I don't get that these are targeted at people because of how they think they'll sound. Maybe a few cork-sniffers who think there's magic in something that's more period correct. It seems like these are meant for people who want to spend money on bragging rights, or perhaps want to sit on...
