Man, if the C+ RI was in stock I would have had one right away.. and probably returned it by now. :ROFLMAO:
Let me play devil's advocate on the Recto RI for a minute. Pre-covid, clean blackface / chrome Rev Fs were going for ~$3500.
Now let's say the Recto RI nails the Rev F / early small...
Tverbs are awesome amps and a great value, but like the Roadsters / Road Kings they are a bit darker & a touch less pissed off (fizzy?) than a standard Dual / Triple. My take on it is that which one you prefer has a lot to do with what kind of music you're gigging.
Maybe SW should hire you for sales, they're sold out now! GC / MF has at least one standard MW in stock still.
Dude don't cha know, tube amps are only for bedroom players now! Gigging musicians only use modelers straight FOH! :ROFLMAO:
Seems to me in the last year or so, 2 channel Rectos have become pretty hard to find (where they used to be a dime a dozen). So, if these are in that F/G pocket I bet they'll sell.
The MW were very close to a F, just a touch more processed. I can see going back to a 2 channel design cleaning...
To be fair, playing PMU (the whole thing) is a litmus test for me personally to knowing if I'm going to like an amp or not. Amps I like will do that song right. That said, I sure would like it if he'd play it correctly..
Sykes riffs are another one for me. Same story. Riffs that have some...
Put some more work in today, I took the C++ and reamped through all 4 of my Recto Trad straight cabs. Got the mic in exactly the same place with the measuring tape. Just for fun I also did a 1960A cab I have on hand.
So the Recto cabs are 2000, 01, 01, & 02. All sweet spot V30s. Which cab do...
I know the story, and, the amps really aren't very much alike. The SLO is one of the best rock amps there is, and the Recto is one of the best metal amps there is, and neither is exceptional at what the other one does well. At least not live.
In the 2 channels the triples are quite a bit tighter. Personally much preferred for this reason.
In the MWs there's not as much a difference in tightness, however the mids are shifted. Like with the Marks as you add power tubes they tend to get more naturally scooped. Personally here I...
After A/Bing them live in the band, I personally disagree with this. I saw them as two (both very good) amps that really do different things.
If they were the same, metal guys would be using SLOs.
So in that other massive shit talking thread @Jimty wrote these lyrics for a spoof that had me laughing all night. He said it was cool if I recorded it. ...So, I put in the work to set the reamp up hoping I could pull off the vocals, but alas, I still can't sing worth a fuck in E Std. I decided...
You are correct. If you compare a G model to a no-G model with a GEQ or PEQ in the loop, the factory G amp will sound better unless maybe you're using a vintage Boss GE-10. The Boogie 5 band pedal like all the others aren't using big voltage like the OG and the Boss, and they just aren't as...
The no-G versions are faster and have better pure liquid tone, they just don’t have the EQ shaping capability. Many of the no-EQ ones I’ve had weren’t even boxy, they were killer as-is for not-metal.
…And obviously aren’t as coveted.
Example-
I've done this slaving 60 W Mark IIs and IIIs into a M180 power amp and it turns it into a CRUSHING experience. Shifts the mids, too. So, yes.
That said, I set up a Helix through the same M180 and the push was not there. It was on par with a stock Mk VII.
The mids on the DRG RI are very OG SRG like. As the power section gets bigger in the OGs, those mids translate to more natural scoop. So, if you're comparing the RI to all OGs, it's right in there. Same story with the push.
This is awesome, huge than you @Ola Englund for putting these together. The RI/OG comparo checks right out to the experience I had when @frontline205 brought his RI over & we recorded the demo in my garage. Between that, your demos & @hellzington 's I really hope we can put the launch behind us...
Cranking the presence helps, but to really get it to open up I've found you have to crank the channel volume up over 1:30 or so. Loud AF. So, maybe with an attenuator? Haven't tried that.
Or, trade it for a Reissue and you'll be 90% there.
Yeah, my wife carries a 43X and honestly... I really like it. It's better for carry than my G19. May have to get my own.
Also yeah those berms are quite tall. 15' maybe? No concerns with boots on the ground. It's a very nice facility.
