The mids on the DRG RI are very OG SRG like. As the power section gets bigger in the OGs, those mids translate to more natural scoop. So, if you're comparing the RI to all OGs, it's right in there. Same story with the push.Definitely more upper mids on the RI vs the OG. Which I prefer....the GEQ having more range makes sense as a way to counter the mid bump of the RI...Gonna have to pull the trigger on this at some point.
but i thought Doug “Tone Boy” West said those were the most coveted…?Non-graphic. They can keep it.
The no-G versions are faster and have better pure liquid tone, they just don’t have the EQ shaping capability. Many of the no-EQ ones I’ve had weren’t even boxy, they were killer as-is for not-metal.but i thought Doug “Tone Boy” West said those were the most coveted…?

…And obviously aren’t as coveted.

You are correct. If you compare a G model to a no-G model with a GEQ or PEQ in the loop, the factory G amp will sound better unless maybe you're using a vintage Boss GE-10. The Boogie 5 band pedal like all the others aren't using big voltage like the OG and the Boss, and they just aren't as good. Kind of processed sounding. That doesn't sound bad but the shootouts I've seen between a non EQ with a 3rd party graphic in the loop vs. a GEQ model, worked in the GEQ model's favor. No idea if the separate Boogie 5 band would solve that or if it comes down to having the EQ in the circuit where it is.
