I've had a BE-100 for a few years now. Since the manual and Dave both advise running the loop level around 9, I did that and used the Master as volume. At gigs, the signal would be too hot and I would get feedback. I'd turn down the bass/gain and still get squealing at loud volumes without an OD...

You can totally do that... although the WW Smallbox footswitch has two buttons on it and I have, in a gig situation, hit the wrong buttons. It acts differently than the BE-100 footswitch.

Also, the "Sat" switch on the BE-100 acts like the 3rd channel on the WW Smallbox. The BE-100 sat switch will lower the volume vs. having the Sat switch off. Likewise, the 2nd channel on the Smallbox is louder than the 3rd saturated channel (when volume knobs are set at the same number).

I owned the BE-100 first for a couple years before nabbing a Wildwood Smallbox. I relied on the third channel because I was so used to the saturated BE-100. Just this week I've been really dialing the Smallbox BE channel to sound great with a BOSS Waza SD-1 with no drive, just the level cranked...

I'm looking to sculpt my Smallbox tone a bit. Has anyone ever tried a Mesa/Boogie 5-band EQ pedal?

I want to say that the Small box headshell was larger than it is currently, but not as big as a BE.

I currently own a BE-100 and a Smallbox WildWood. Can anyone confirm if the WW's Ch. 3 is the same as Smallbox Ch. 2 w/ Sat switch mod? Wondering if it would be worth it to get a Sat switch added to the Smallbox... but not if redundant. Thanks!

I thought I had a tube in there based on my Mesa/Boogie experience (I'm new to Friedman's). Dave replied to my FB post and let me know to spray contact cleaner in the jacks and that there is no tube for the FX loop. Thanks for the reply LP Freak! I tried the contact cleaner and it did the trick.

At rehearsal last night, volume was dropping in/out of my Smallbox. I pulled the cables out of the EX loop and the tone returned, no drops. Just wanted to confirm with you all that it is a 12AX7 effects loop tube... and I can just swap it out. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! I used the 4x12 during rehearsal the other night. I don't mic the cab and usually run the master at 6-7 (FX level 9-10). It sounded so perfect. It was the bigger room that completely enhanced the sound/projection of the cab. I should have known as I'm not a beginner, but...

I used the 4x12 at rehearsal last night at full volume (little above 6) and it was the most glorious sound I've ever heard. Definitely a room/space issue changing the sound of the bigger cab. I don't think I will ever gig without it... as long as stage space isn't a factor.

I have both the BE-100 and a Smallbox... and a 2x12 and a 4x12 (both Friedman's). The 4x12 just doesn't get the saturation and breakup that the 2x12 gets. I have an outdoor gig coming up (loud classic rock: VH, Rush, etc.) and I'm leaning towards the 2x12. How much will being outdoors change my...

I can't stop playing mine and I also have a BE-100. The Smallbox sees all the gigging too. You will love it.

So using that logic, and if you can't play with your SB on 6, wouldn't the amp sound better cranked (and attenuated/re-amped)?

Has anyone here tried the Fryette with the SmallBox? There are so many attenuaters these days, wondering if one is better suited to the SmallBox versus the others and what your sonic experiences have been.

I do have the wildwood version... I've since just used the extra little push from the Mesa High Wire buffer. It has a 3db switch intended for using single coil guitars to balance the volume, but I just keep it on for my humbuckers and it's perfect.

I was just going to reply that I bought an Archer yesterday and was loving its impact on my Smallbox. It's perfect and sounds great at ANY setting.
