Is 1.65 inches a 1 5/8" or 1 11/16th inch wide neck comparably?
Google search yields it = 1 13/20th

anyone know the convert?

A google search...??? Dude, this is straight up fractions and decimals. 11/16 is .685 ad 5/8 is .625 - are you currently spec'ing a neck through the Warmoth website?

I suck at math, I'm trying to match my Suhr Modern neck at 1.65, to an Anderson build at 5/8 or 11/16th

Depends what you prefer, a wider neck or thinner one. It's actually a big difference feel wise between the two. I personally like the 1 5/8 more but I have small hands. The only issue with 1 5/8 is the high E is really close to the edge of the fretboard and is more susceptible to the string slipping off if you are not used to it.

You'll want to go 1 5/8 on the Anderson build, as it will be closest to Suhr's 1.650.

As the math suggests, the 1.65 sits in between the other two sizes. 1.65 is vintage Fender spec. 1.68 is modern Fender spec. I have no idea where the 1.625 (1-5/8) comes from. However, 1.68 and 1.625 are the two sizes that are most common from what I have seen.

LOL ... 1-11/16" is 1.6875 ... Like you and Barbi say, it's math.....

In fractional inches, closest would be 1-21/32".... 1.65625

I was typing quickly, believe me, I know it's .6875, I just missed the '7' in there... [facepalm]

I'm going to bang Barbi now :D

You win

I work in a fractional inch dominated industry using digital machines... also have to convert to metric toolpathing and programming certain machines. Far easier to keep everything in tenths and 50ths than it is to multiply by .0625, .03125, .015625 all day ... (1/16, 1/32, 1/64)

That is among other things the PRS "regular" profile neck width. Probably my favorite.

Anderson, 60's Fenders and myself all use 1.650" even though we call it 1 5/8"
EB is one of the only companies that does 1.625" or mid 70's Fenders

You think they hold a tolerance of .00375 on each side ?
Thats less than half the width of a high E string for reference

For whatever reason Fender started it by making 1.65" standard and calling it 1 5/8"
So most do the same.

Thanks, for the info....I always assumed that Anderson and 60's Fenders were actually 1 5/8. I wasn't aware that ALL of you were 1.650.

OP was asking a math question on decimal equivalents, no one said anything about tolerances.
Sorry to get your panties in a bunch.

Funny you mentioned the high E string width as a reference point-

Just as a player, to check fret height on a Guitar, I sometimes lay a low E string ( .046) next to the fret on the fingerboard to get a pretty good idea of actual height.........

In case there was any doubt I think it is funny what some get obsessed over.
If anyone ever took calipers to some companies necks you would find many variances off spec more than double those errors.
In fact most wont post specs for that reason.

What I said was light hearted just trying to point out what we are talking about with some of these small figures when dealing with wood. Not an attack at you, sorry I quoted you to make my post.
I have experienced enough things at my age to not get my G string stuck in the nut slot over any of this, I cant speak for your panties though ! Geeese I'm not the enemy. !
