Is 1.65 inches a 1 5/8" or 1 11/16th inch wide neck comparably?
Google search yields it = 1 13/20th

Depends what you prefer, a wider neck or thinner one. It's actually a big difference feel wise between the two. I personally like the 1 5/8 more but I have small hands. The only issue with 1 5/8 is the high E is really close to the edge of the fretboard and is more susceptible to the string slipping off if you are not used to it.

As the math suggests, the 1.65 sits in between the other two sizes. 1.65 is vintage Fender spec. 1.68 is modern Fender spec. I have no idea where the 1.625 (1-5/8) comes from. However, 1.68 and 1.625 are the two sizes that are most common from what I have seen.

I work in a fractional inch dominated industry using digital machines... also have to convert to metric toolpathing and programming certain machines. Far easier to keep everything in tenths and 50ths than it is to multiply by .0625, .03125, .015625 all day ... (1/16, 1/32, 1/64)

Funny you mentioned the high E string width as a reference point-
Just as a player, to check fret height on a Guitar, I sometimes lay a low E string ( .046) next to the fret on the fingerboard to get a pretty good idea of actual height.........
