2016 MTL for $4k on Reverb

I really need to visit someone that owns a Wizard. Many folks I know swear by them but I just cannot seem to make myself risk the cost of admission.

At $4k+ used I definitely need to try before I buy.
You need to find one to play, I think it'd tickle your taint. I wish I would of had one at the time I passed through your area, I would have dropped it off with ya and picked it up two weeks later on my way back through.

If the market wasn't so screwball, I'd say just grab one and you'd have no issue recouping what your had into it, quickly, but this market, these times are jacked. I've owned 14 Wizards and never lost a dime on any one of them, and they all sold really really fast, but these days god only knows.

"Probably best sounding amp I've ever owned..."

And its for sale.....

I love it when people feel the need to throw that in.

But it’s a lager… Can’t beat fresh IPA from the site itself 🤘🏻🍻
I mostly drink pisswater type beers and enjoy watching beer snobs and hipsters lose their cool by saying they are the only decent beers. Modelo, Lonestar, and Miller Lite with the occasional High Life chucked in for good measure.

Nice. There are some great high brow snob beers I like, but I pretty much grew up on Natty Light and I love bringing a case of it to parties and getting WTF looks from everybody there, lol.

I can drink anything so I am unstoppable when I hear “beer” 😂

But them fresh IPAs I like a tad more even 🍻

There are, but I don't have lots of money for beers unless the club is buying. I used to buy the occasional budweiser product until they made a tranny the mascot. I used to get that Peace tea until they started putting rainbow flags and occult symbols all over it. I avoid gatorade for similar reasons. There are some really good TX beers. Pearl Snap is a good one. I like Pilsners cause they are light and easy drinking in hot weather. Shiner Light Blonde rules all beers as far as I'm concerned and is the official beer of my band.

I am quite surprised, given the quality and variety of US IPAs 😯
It's 100 degrees here in the day time. The last thing I want after sweating all day is a sour or bitter thick beer.

Now if you want to get ghetto with me drinking down by the interstate underneath a bridge in Baku sometime I'll pack some of these:

They would be more amazing if they came with a footswitch.

I thought they do come with footswitches? I bought all three of mine used but each one came with a footswitch

Am I missing some bit of info here? I don’t ever use the footswitches so maybe there’s more to them functioning?

I also don't agree that Wizards aren't recordable. I love the tones I get with mine, and you get killer tones with yours.

I will say though, I'll concede that Wizards can be complicated to dial in. IMHO while I think they can sound better than anything out there (for what I like at least), the controls give you so much sweep that you can absolutely make them sound bad.

I like my MC2 so much that I recently picked up a Hell Razor as well (I know, I know, yet another Wizard picked up by a Rig Talk guy, shut up lol) and I have to say it took me like a full day or so of tweaking to finally figure the thing out and not regret my decision, but after banging my head against it long enough and trying some unorthodox settings, now I think it might actually be my favorite amp of all time, no caveats, no exceptions.

The MC2 isn't going anywhere, btw. The amps are just different enough to keep both. They're both lifetime amps. BUT, they definitely need to be learned to get the best out of them.
Nice, which powertube and wattage version Hell Razor? I've had mine for just over a year now and finally got it right where I wanted dialed in about a month ago lol. There still were a few things I didn't get yet about dialing it in and do some non-conventional settings, but yeah one of my top 4 for sure. For me it smokes the MC and MTL I had, but haven't tried an MC2. Would love to hear a clip like you had of your MC2. Prove again that Wizard's actually can record well too, not just impress in person

Thanks man! I decided that if I'm going to pull the trigger on such an absurd amp, might as well go all the way. I got the 150w KT88 version. I was debating going either that or KT66 but I figured the tonal differences were likely minimal between those types, and I'm already familiar with and like KT88's so I thought that would at least be a safer bet.

I'll definitely get around to doing a big clip-fest thread of the amp after I get a few other things taken care of. I can tell you the biggest secret or unexpected thing I've kind of uncovered with the HR is that, surprisingly, I like Bright 1 set pretty low, like maybe 4 or so, which I was not expecting. The amp is so fast and transparent and there's so much "zing" and treble clarity on tap that I think dialing Bright 1 down relatively low kind of trims some of the abrasiveness and raw pick attack back, and puts the amp closer to what I'm used to.

I don't know if I'd say the HR is a complete replacement for the MC2 in the sense that there isn't a place for both, but it does feel like the HR is what an MC2 on steroids would sound and feel like. The DNA is VERY close. I'm sure I'll talk more about it as I keep tweaking around and forming an opinion. So far in general it's that the HR sounds bigger, has higher highs and lower lows (although that could be the KT88's vs the EL34's in my MC2), and has quite a bit more gain on tap, but the MC2 has a lean and ultra clear quality to its gain that I find addictive. I might even be able to dial that sound on the HR, but I'm still learning it. Between the two Bright knobs and 4 Gain knobs, the HR is way more complex than any other modern high gain amp I've played, so it's just gonna take some solid hours to figure out.

Oh, these are cool! I actually had one back in St. Petersburgh.

If you somehow can get ahold of Hill Farmstead stouts, they are considered spectacular.

I also liked Founders Breaksfast Stout and it’s variants.

I find IPAs quite refreshing for a hot day, old school IPAs ain’t thick at all, and with a crispy bite to them.
