20th XTC - 34's or 6L6?

OK OK, is this thread still alive??

I've got 6L6's in my 20th and I couldn't be happier. I actually bought the EL34 version too, just to be sure, traded it for a SLO with KT-77's :rock:

And yes, it's true. If all the bass players would learn their parts, we wouldn't have to cover their asses with our monstrous tone and there would be less pain all around.
 
This thread is still alive because of the "passion of preference" m'man!! Some love 6L6, some love EL34. I love the sag, grind, and gnaw of the EL34, simple as that - and honestly - by the time you get the KT77s in there, it's a slightly different ballgame altogether, with elements of BOTH the 6L6 AND EL34. Best of both worlds.

I can imagine those KT-77's have some sweetness to them. I sure enjoy them in my SLO.

And of course it is ALWAYS a matter of personal preference.

Bottom Line for me: Love me some 20th XTC :rock:
