How do the 2203KK and the Silver Jubilee compare for real heavy, thrashy tones? I’ve heard the KK is a beast, but most clips are lackluster. Killertone Jason did a vid of the Jube with four different boosts and it sounds sick. Also very curious about a Molecular 100. What say you?

I would take either. I just sold a cab to a guy, he brought over a silver jubilee to play through it. Sounded nice

You ever been down the 6505+ road? Awesome tight thrash/death metal heaven all with such a great feel. No boost required...Actually prefer it without a boost....you know that's saying something coming out of my mouth. Can't believe how good this amp is.

I used to own a 5150III. I like it. Had a really organic blue channel. But the silver jubilee sounds better to me. And I agree with you about killertone's video, Though the guy makes every amp sound badass.

Have had both, still have my KK. I also have a Gutierrez variation of the Langner mod 800 I love just as much...if not more. I would advise anyone looking for brutal Marshall thrash tone to get that mod done.

So both these amps seem kick ass to me. Out of curiosity as I hear the KK has a zuul like gate, is the gate less effective if you run pedals before the amp? I know that you don't need to boost it as it has a boost built in, but if you wanted to run another pedal for some reason.

i have a krank head that was built for KK with a built in GE10 that was supposed to be the kerry king sig amp before marshall came into the picture. it rips

The KK noise gate is the ORIGINAL Zuul..Fortin copied the Marshall circuit for the Zuul.

Both amps will be killer, can easily do metal with a boost or two. I would vote for the Jubilee as it has a super responsive EQ, very different from any other Marshall. Tons of low end available; much more than the KK. Almost Mesa-like lows. Plus the Jubilee works great with V30s, and every other speaker I've thrown at it. The KK is more classic Marshall in the eq response and digs GBs or 65s/75s best...Jubilee loves all speakers.
Not to take away from the KK as it is a monster as well..I believe the Jubilee is just more versatile with all the different tones you can dial in.

I had heard that the kk gate was the inspiration. Glad it happened. But if you put a boost before the key on the zuul, it would be less effective. I would imagine the key for the kk gate is split off of the input, but I have never looked at the circuit.

I’ve never had one, but I’ve heard them plenty, and they’re killers. Especially for the price.

Yes he does, but that Jubilee vid of his really stands out. It’s so raw, in your face, and unproduced sounding.

Is Brett still doing those mods? Do you have a clip?

I’m definitely leaning Jubilee, and really dig your description concerning the EQ and the low end. I’m also seriously considering ordering a Molecular 100, since they never come up used.

If you want a Marshall sound back in your arsenal I say just get a late ‘70’s JMP2203 with a decent boost or an early ‘80’s JCM800 2203, but I prefer the late ‘70’s JMP’s. The Jubilee’s sound very good too, but I liked my JMP more. It sounded to me more raw, open and aggressive, while the Jubilee seemed smoother. I still like my JMP boosted more overall than an any modded Marshall’s. Still one of my top 5 favorite high gain sounds I’ve had

It’s true that the Jubilee has much more responsive eq controls and a tighter low end than my jmp2203, but I still found myself preferring other amps I had

I’m more fan of KK. It has more low-mid grunt and voicing is suited for metal. Diode mode in Jubilee sounds like distortion pedal and I prefer boosting non-pulled lead channel.
Here is quick iPhone clip of EL34 KK
