This right here ! ... is sex??
They are killer amps..but the one I had was a normal 800 eq wise, transformers the same as the 2203x. The built in 'beast' mode boost and noise gate took it up a few notches though. Add one more boost and it destroys. The additional low end probably due to the KT88s.Doesn't the KK come stock with KT88's? anyways I also heard that it has oversized transformers and puts out a ton of lows too. It really sounds like it does going by the latest Slayer album repentless.
Transformers are the same as JVM/800RI and 4xKT88 puts only 100W in KK. I don't believe it can run KT's at full trottle. Even 800 channel doesn't sound as good as classic JCM, You can still hear 'modern' Marshall iron in those, they just don't have the bloom and 'musicality' of old JMP/JCM.Doesn't the KK come stock with KT88's? anyways I also heard that it has oversized transformers and puts out a ton of lows too. How the hell did you manage to get a prototype like that? Does it sound like 2203 clone with a boost, or what?? Have any pics?i have a krank head that was built for KK with a built in GE10 that was supposed to be the kerry king sig amp before marshall came into the picture. it rips

Yep, with the beast mode off it didn’t have the same grunt or articulation as my 83 2203. But with the eq boost engaged and another pedal in front I had almost the same tone as the Cam Aldrich JMP right next to it.Transformers are the same as JVM/800RI and 4xKT88 puts only 100W in KK. Congrats, man. Definitely report back. I am going back and forth between that or a jp2c.I just ordered one of the black special edition Jubes from Sweetwater.
The main reason I am buying a Jube, and not a 2203KK, is because the KK has no loop. That won't work for me. Also the Jube is the Marshall that sounds good with V30s and all my cabs are Recto V30 cabs! I know, I'm one of those guys.. Aaaand because of the latitude with different power tubes.
I expect it not to be "quite" as sweet as a vintage Marshall and I'm OK with that. I get enough of that fix with my old Boogies and didn't want to deal with potential 40 year old amp problems.
Last time I saw Slayer in concert KK had an INSANE amount of mids in his tone. Even for him!
Personally to me the 5150 / 6505 sound like a Chinese version of a good amp...

Ok, the Jube was delivered yesterday and I’m loving it. First unmodded Marshall I’ve had in a long time, and there’s a beautiful purity to it that I’m really enjoying. It loves the OD808, and my Mesa Traditional cabs with two V’30’s, and two WGS’s apiece. I’ve still gotta try it with my Splawn cab with V30’s/Greenbacks. It’s a little tricky dialing in, but rewarding when you get it. Took a half hour, no big deal. There’s definitely a sweet spot on the bass and gain settings. Too much is mud, not enough is, well, not enough. I’m hovering around 8-8.5 on both. Lead master low, output master high and you’re golden. It’s got a ton of lows for a stock Marshall, and Marshall bark for days, which I’m really diggin. The stock Marshall labeled Tung Sols sound really good. I tried JJ E34L’s, and they were a bit much. A little flubby on the lows. Tried a Tung Sol in V1 and a few JJ’s, and they sound nice, but not necessarily any better that the stock Marshall labeled 83’s.
Any tips or recommendations are welcome, fire away.
Yeah, that is the shit, isn’t it? Doesn’t get much better than that.when he boosts it, make me want to sell my soul
One tip is to keep the lead/output master at 5 or more; then you're pushing the output enough to get the power tubes involved, plus your clean will be balanced pretty well with the lead. Of course, if you don't need the clean then I'd just crank the output all the way up and bring the lead master up to taste...you've got the power section cooking and it will sound great. They love V30s, Greenbacks, 65s, older 75s.
