Ok, so I received the new Guitar Player mag today featuring the new EVH products. The article on the 5150III 50w finally shows pictures of the back, confirming the 1/4" footswitch input and the midi input  (both huge improvements from its big brother). Now I won't have to spend a few hundred bucks on a Mini Amp Gizmo. However, if you look closely at the pic of the back it appears to read "Designed in U.S.A." and "Made In Vietnam"? Are any other Fender products made in Vietnam? Is this possible or am I prematurely presbyopic :student: ? The article is misleading because it says it's made in U.S.A. (which we all know is most likely false since the 100watter is made in Mexico). I hope the build quality isn't compromised compared to the 100watter thats made in Mexico (I know, that sounds odd   ) which I thought was built well.

I wouldn't have any doubt's they would have it made in Vietnam,

After hearing Lolzgreg's Fortin modded 5153 100 watter I would have no interest in that toy

My god the tone!

I had a feeling... I had that as a front runner in my "Pick a 50 watter Poll", high marks for channels, and pedigree....

Glad I touched base with Jerry/Surreal and got the CM-50....

as enticing as the "EVH' Mythos, attatched to any of his amps ....

I got a 3 channel hand built Plexi, made in CA-USA..... Sounds Crazy good...

Diddy-Mao! indeed....

Clips soon!!

And why would someone in Vietnam do less of a good job than someone in Mexico or the United States? Or anywhere else for that matter?

Just throwing this out there.................If you had a choice between two identical Les Pauls (even played identical) that were the exact same price, one made in the USA and one made in, oh say Korea, which one would you pick?

Thing is though, they wouldn't be the same price. "Made in the USA" will be substantially more expensive (in general) than the "made in Korea" model. If they were equivalent as you say, I'd be opting for the one that saves me money.

The 5150 III 50w is being marketed at the sub $1000 level, yet is expected to remain high quality and have great tone, so of course manufacturing costs will be an issue.

Without putting reality to it (the question was meant to be hypothetical), which would the both of you choose, and why, if EVERYTHING (including the cost) was the same.

Whichever felt/sounded better in my hands given I get to test the two. If I can't test it, I wouldn't buy any of them.

I just think it's idiotic to even be bothered if the builder's name is Juan, John or Yen. Fact that labour is cheaper in non western countries doesn't mean that people don't work as hard or well or quality components could be used. There should be sort of independent quality tests to get rid of any prejudice towards origin of a product. Because that's exactly what this is: prejudice.

The way I read this topic is: Well, I like the EVH III 50W but because there's a certain sticker on it with some letters I believe that it's suddenly become a rubbish product. Guess your ignorance was bliss?

Great, I knew we were over there fighting for something.

At that price point it's too cheap to be made in Mexico.

I never thought I would say that, sounds funny.

My guess is that they probably work harder and complain less than lazy ass americans   ;)

This.

What did you expect for a sub $1k 3-channel 50watt EVH/Fender amplifier?

I pre-ordered one of these knowing it isn't going to be a USA-made product. I own Japanese and Mexican made guitars, Chinese and USA made amps. All have held up very well.

Ampeg has had their amps built in Vietnam for a few years now....

All I am saying is....which my OP clearly states.........is that I hope the build quality is the same as the Mexican made 100watter. As everyone can see from my sig and from previous threads that I post in, I am extremely happy with my "made in Mexico" amp. I have stated many times that I don't care where an amp is built as long as I am inspired by the instrument and its not falling apart. I am just worried that the change in production may compromise the build quality.

Instead of keeping US capital in the US, we should send it overseas and complain that the government isn't doing enough to create jobs. It's so crazy, it just might work.

Do you have a link to the article? Or can post the pic of the back of the amp from the article? I would love to hear/see more about it.

No amp made in Vietnam can withstand the rigors of the bedroom or basement.
